Tigger is a member of the death party — guns before children, every time. Thank goodness he and the NRA leadership are in a tiny, tiny, and increasingly ineffective majority. (Over 99% of the NRA’s money in the last election was wasted on losing causes.)
I just read through the detail of the “executive orders.” Lots of suggestions made, a few database sharing orders, a to do list “appoint an ATF” leader, more research, but nothing that is at all earth shattering or restrictive. As usual, Obama shifted all that to congress, where it is already looking marginal in it’s chances of passing, at best. There are so many democrats from gun owner states coming up for re-election in 2014 that much of the liberal element won’t support it.
Of course as much as many would like to dump on the NRA, they have a large group of liberal congress people on their “A” list on gun control issues (meaning they don’t support it). Add to that the debt debate is going to be shortly consuming congress again so real gun control legislation isn’t looking too good. It’s a shame because one very important element that would make an immediate change in availability of firearms period is the gun show element. We at least need to have registration and background checks apply on that level. Oh well, just another hot topic to get kicked down the road until the next crises gets everyone fired up again.
The facts of those 23 EOs proposed are pretty intelligent ways to address the issues. But “certain” Americans, and especially the NRA leadership, wants no part of “intelligence”.
BTW: Those “thousands” of laws, actually boil down to a number in double, maybe at most triple, digits, because they’re just “repeats” of the same laws in other jurisdictions.
All those suggestions from Obama also btw, are NOT Executive Orders, just recommendations for CONGRESS to pass LAW.
It’s so horrible to live in a country of bleeding hearts where you can’t just lock people up without cause. Oh, how I wish we had true freedom to lock people up!!

It might if Congress hadn’t obeyed the NRA and crippled the ATF’s ability to ENFORCE those laws.

It is all going to go to the Supreme Court and likely after the new judges are appointed. Gun people, be very afraid.
