Ronald Reagan was so senile in 1994 he barely knew what he had for breakfast. The fact that Piers Morgan and others on the Left would try to use a Reagan quote from 1994 (and it wasn’t his quote, it was also signed by Ford and Carter) shows the disingenuous approach of those that want to further the agenda of gun control.

Would everyone please just stop talking about deer hunting? The Second Amendment is clearly aimed right at protecting citizens from their own government or from an invading force.

Very little has been done to make me appreciate the government lately. People who call themselves “patriots” have done more than anyone or anything. They are scary. They are deluded. They are dangerous to mental health—creating paranoia and fear, because they are paranoid and fearful themselves. This is the way of the extreme right: make everyone the same, including filled with fear and paranoia.

Of course nobody needs 30 rounds to bag a deer. Do you really think that’s what is at stake? 30 rounds can protect you from groups, from gangs, from riots, and can even protect you in situations the 2nd Amendment was created for.

“The point of gun ownership is to violently overthrow the democratically elected American government.”

Please tell me you are being facetious. Otherwise I am amazed that someone with your education and intellect could make such a remark. I am a gun owner, many liberals on these boards are gun owners, and I think most of us share a love for our country, including many who have put their lives in harms way to protect and defend it. Somehow calling all of us traitors seems a little over the top Doc.

Good cartoon. I believe Mr. Obama sincerely wants to reduce the number of people killed by guns and I sincerely believe Mr. LaPierre wants to protect the gun makers and stockholders. He also wants to protect gun owners to the degree they pay their dues and make donations.I do not believe Mr. LaPierre is concerned about gun violence.Respectfully,C.

Good point, but logic doesn’t work with the NRA. It seems that pushing paranoia about government gun-confiscators breaking down doors and taking away our assault weapons is used to justify the obscene salaries that top NRA officials receive for promoting their propaganda.

I highly doubt that it was ever the intention of the founding fathers for us to have weapons that would kill numerous persons in a matter of seconds. Actually, I think that they would be horrified at how we have taken something that they wrote and turned it into a carte blanche for the gun lobby.

The 2nd Amendment is there to protect We the People against tyrants (like your bumpkis savior). Personally, I want to live in a free country. The right to bear arms is a guarantee of the freedom of living in America. If you don’t like it, take the next plane to Iran.

Obama loves to use innocent children for his ploy. He’s just using them for his political gains. He doesn’t really care about children. He only cares about himself.

Amazing how many “right wingers” cry for a lost egg, holding up phony photos of aborted fetuses they claim are only a week old, when they’re actually late third trimester, or about to be born, yet condemn Obama for saying we should actually save REAL CHILDREN!

The second part is conditional upon the first part. That’s English grammar. That means that the second part exists in order to fulfill the first part and has no other stated purpose or function. That means, as it is written, that the purpose of not infringing the right to bear arms is in order to provide for a well-regulated militia. Said militia is, according to the constitution, regulated by the Union, ie., the federal government. Given that there was only a very small standing army at the time, the ability to call up folks for service in time of war or insurrection made sense.

Recognizing I don’t agree with Mr. Obama’s use of executive power, I do believe he felt an emotional need to do something even if it did nothing as you suggest. Still, it is hardening hearts.^You are not one from whom I expect to read absolutes, Ansonia. Just as the implementation of drinking laws reduced DUI related accidents, making straw buyers more reluctant to buy guns, tracking guns so corrupt gun stores can be shut down, and demanding 100% background checks will help. If deaths are reduced by 1%, would it not be worthwhile?^The NRA as a hunter’s lobby and source for gun safety training is a great tool. As a lobbying arm for gun makers, it is a heartless beast.^A congressman received an award from the NRA after putting a non-reviewed amendment in the Patriot Act requiring the head of the ATF be approved by Congress. Congress has refused to approve a director for 6 years. The man who put the amendment in the Patriot Act was given a plaque from the NRA. ^http://protectpolice.org/facts This site shows how a republican congressman passed legislation making it nearly impossible for the ATF, the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Department to effectively enforce existing gun laws.^I can continue, but I have been able to verify what I heard on TV earlier and the most concise way for you to hear the info is to go to this website….http://www.thedailyshow.com/^I know…liberal comedien…but in the first two segments of his show, he sarcastically reports on things the NRA has done to prevent the ATF from doing what the NRA says the ATF is supposed to be doing. It’s twisted. And while he goes for laugh lines, its not funny. I have verified what Mr. Stewart said on other ‘objective’ websites. The fastest way to hear it is with the link to Wednesday night’s show.If you don’t want to read him, just google NRA cripples ATF, and Congressman Triahrt.^I am disgusted that this story, like the story about HSBC, were introduced to me by comedians instead of journalists.I would not waste your time, Ansonia, if I did not find this info compelling.Respectfully,C.

Lessons From Guns and a GooseBy NICHOLAS D. KRISTOFPublished: January 16, 2013 404 Comments

When I travel abroad and talk to foreigners about the American passion for guns, people sometimes express a conclusion that horrifies me: in America, life is cheap.

Some of us like our high capacity magazines just because we are lazy. I like to take my 22 target rifle to the range and shoot at paper targets, but I don’t like to have to reload the magazine constantly. So, I own a couple of high capacity magazines so that I can shoot my paper target to shreds without having to reload constantly.

“Nothing Obama did will reduce the number of people killed by guns. Criminals do not obey laws…… LaPierre knows that passing more laws is not going to prevent gun violence. Saying he doesn’t care about it is inflammatory.”,So since laws don’t stop criminals, should we just do away with all laws? Or is there something magic about guns that make gun restriction laws ineffective? Laws do in fact reduce crime. (It’s absurd that I should even have to say that.) Well-written gun restrictions have and will reduce gun violence if they are consistently enforced. Now read my last post.

All gun onwers, NRA Life Members and Conservatives are demons. Nice cartoon. Lets see Obama Care decide to take away proven killers, Tobacco and alcohol, lets see how that will work. Lets also remember that all guns used in crimes are legally purchased by law abiding citizens and that the fight over “assault” rifles actually counts as a reasonable argument. Grow up people, the kid from Newton wasn’t the gun owner, he killed the legal gun owner to steal her guns so any laws wouldn’t have helped and Timothy McVeigh didn’t use any guns and still managed to masacre how many innocent people?
