Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for January 17, 2013

I think this will be a fun story arc especially if we go back and forth between past Phoebe and past Marigold. it shows us how some things haven’t changed and yet how other things have.

I like the different outfits.

“I’m not a dweeb. I’m a super-dweeb. Get it right.”

At first in panel 2 it looked like Dakota was holding a mini-bottle of champagne that had bubbled over. Later I realized it is a jump rope.

They’re gonna be Best Friends…eventually, all 3 of them.

I have never understood why people of any age have to talk down to others? What is the reason? I just don’t understand it.

I would bring up the fact that if it weren’t for us dweebs, nerds, and geeks, you wouldn’t be enjoying the current modern conveniences you use in everyday life.

One thing about Dakota that has been mystifying me and driving my curiosity wild: she has a favorite spot in the park, a very lovely and private area. Somehow that’s never jibed with me as something a vain bully would enjoy.

There have been other, passing glimpses of her that seem to indicate hidden depths to her as well.

Dakota is more of a tease. She calls Phoebe Dork and Nerd and Princess Stupid But, but she doesn’t beat Phoebe up or say things to be mean I think there is more to her then just a bully. Now when we 1st saw her and she lost her hair I had this idea in my head that the magical removed hair was a wig hiding her cancer recovery and we would feel sorry for her and maybe she came from a broken family but then it turned out she was in the vortex of Meh and thats why she was acting all mellow and junk and when she got her hair back and then some, she became obsessed with owning a unicorn and went back to being cool. But I think she has some respect for Phoebe or at least envy. Maybe what she wants isn’t a unicorn as much as a friend. and maybe she will make friends with a unicorn but it’ll be a Nerd Unicorn for a human who is obsessed with her self.I always wounder if the strip is better of with Just Phoebe and Marigold, or if it would be better off with magical creatures and humans bonding all over the place suddenly.I think both are great ideas but both ideas take away from the other.

Seems my earlier statement was removed.If it bothered anyone else i am sorry.I am getting tired of the constant negative comments by some people.All the popular people in my school went on to be successful business people, and good fathers and mothers. And even if they did not treat me with much respect when we were young, as we grew up into adults, they realized how hard they were to me and others like me. Most even apologized to me at one time or another.None of them became party animals or criminals or porn stars. Just normal people.
