LIVESTRONG is a great organization. Painting it with the same brush as its founder does no one honor and ignores the enormous good it has done and the millions who have benefited from it.livestrong.orgIf you’ve made resolutions to improve your health this year, this is a great resource.Respectfully,C.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”

I don’t understand whats so bad about performance enhancing drugs. what hypocrites we all are. This country and world lives on pharmaceuticals, there’s nothing that a little pill won’t solve. and we love seeing our superheros perform superfeats. I coach and compete at a professional level in a specific sport. i went semi-pro last season (meaning i compete with the pro’s but i don’t make 100 percent of my income from it). the big difference i see between the pro’s and the amateurs, is the pros cheat. they cheat out in the open. they cheat shamelssly and they don’t make good on their cheating until they’re caught this is what the world has come to. I do not cheat, and it cost me a few places this season, but i still had an impressive finish. I will not cheat this season, but i already have strategies to get me ahead of some of the cheaters.and i am already satisfied with how i did without cheating. it’s a huge win for me to beat many of these pro’s honestly. they spend so much time and focus cheating, they lose sight of the game.

Role-playing gamers have had problems with corporate media’s abbreviating rocket-propelled grenades. Now breath mint manufacturers are being confused with performance-enhancing drugs!

The worst part is – he called a lot of honest people liars – even taking them to court and ruining their reputation – just to maintain his lie. He’s not a Hero – he’s a zero.

@cdownsto answer your first question, the “sixpack” refers to neither my abs (they were 8pack at the time of the sixpack), nor a propensity for drinking alcohol (which i do not do – never aquired the taste for it). It is a monniker i picked up in high school for a car i drove and raced (440 Sixpack R/T Challenger). you put up a lot of reasons there, but people (and kids) take drugs, and have sex and do all kinds of other things humans do and have always done.I am NOT confused about morality or the ethics of the situation.if people damage themselves they suffer the consequences. Sports figures don’t ask to be role models and why is the behaviour of people who watch them their problem anyway?Your example of medicine is somewhat flawed as well. In an ideal world doctors would prescribe medicine because it’s appropriate. Now they prescribe medicine OFTEN because they get “free samples” or some kind of promotion from the pharma company, to make patients happy and keep them coming back for more.back to role models though, people WANT to see the steroided monsters do their thing and they pay BIG BUCKS (and the monsters are paid big bucks) to do so.it defacto, is part of the game. If you’re not doing it, you can’t win it. And to quote general patton, “americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser”.it seems to me that the american thing to do would be for the sports figures to ENDORSE steroid use, particularly specific brands. Imagine what that would do for the economy?

Time to rethink the whole “performance enhancing” deal. Why shouldn’t an athlete be allowed to use his own oxygen enriched blood to enhance his performance? Don’t well funded teams have an advantage over poorer teams? I really don’t care if Armstrong won by taking banned drugs. But the lengths he went to in keeping whistle blowers quiet is scary—the dude was ruthless. I think he deserves his seven Tour de France wins. But he should have the grace to quietly retire and count his blessings.
