Well, they turned down my suggestion. That was to drop some air fuel bombs on the way in, and again on the way out.

Why not just send them to Afghanistan and let the Afghan people deal with them?

My daughter may not have to leave her daughter/my granddaughter for another tour now. I’m happy with this decision in general. Sorry for Afghanistan, but happy for our young men and women and their families.Respectfully,C.

I have a good start for adaptation: close all our foreign bases, bring our troops home and use them only for a real threat to America, not this ridiculous premise of “making the world safe for democracy.” Save lots of money and more importantly American lives…

The ‘toon shows the best place for those boots. The only “good war” is the one we never fight. Korea was a “police action” and their has never been an armistice, just a “cease fire”. We haven’t come even close to fighting a war since WW II that came close to being “necessary”. Stopping Serbian aggression stopped another “holocaust”, and still wasn’t considered a “war”.

Cut the “defense” contracting budget by not less than 30%, keep the troops needed for defense,(but still cut that by 20%+) and stop wasting lives, and money, on incursions into other peoples; business, and countries. WE do not need to “police” the world, or maintain an empire, that didn’t work for England, France, Spain, Belgium, or Italy, and Germany’s “adventures” also didn’t end well.

“……At the end of WWII our quick to please/short to think government dismantled our huge/well trained military so the boys could all go home to be with their wives/girlfriends and, no doubt, ostensibly vote for the morons that set them free……..”.And the nation boomed as all that manpower and resources were diverted to peaceful, productive purposes at home. The good-times continued until America got too reckless with its world-wide military presence, stupid wars, wasteful spending, and huge deficits.

Well, the communists won in Vietnam & now they’re sprouting factories to make more crap we don’t need, just like the rest of Asia.If the North had won, the Kims would not have been propped up by the USSR & China for the last 50 years… it would have been harder on the South in the short run, but maybe better for the nation as a whole in the long run.

^but it’s not WW2, and the soviet union is not coming back. One of our problems in our serial wars (korea, vietnam), is we were always fighting the last war and were woefully unprepared for the current war.keeping the legacy troops against a long dead adversary is backward looking and a waste of resources.could something happen again, of course. will it be the same as last time, highly unlikely.what we need to watch out for is ourselves and eisenhowers warning about the military, industrial, congressional complex.

@uncle joethe communists won in vietnam? and your proof is they are now sprouting factories like good capitalists?while we were there ostensibly fighting communists, maybe that’s not what we were fighting at all, eh?

Glad Barry followed Bush’s lead on the Afghan exit strategy as he also agreed with 98% of Bush’s Tax Policy.
