She was confirmed in this position and became the first woman appointed to a Cabinet position. She was the longest serving Labor secretary, serving for 12 years between 1933 and 1945. She was also the very first woman ever to enter the Presidential Line of Succession.-
Problem for the Republicans is their fake outrage now means they can be held to their own false standards. The vast bulk of women & minorities on Capital Hill are Democrats. Why is that, if conservatives are so concerned about diversity?

I believe that Francis Perkins, Secretary of Labor under FDR, was the first woman in the cabinet. She later taught at Cornell.
