“Klondyke barbie would have quit halfway thru her term like she did her job as governor of Alaska.”She probably only quit because of the ethics investigations the state was conducting on her, not because she didn’t think she could handle the job.
The ethics investigation, whose panel was majority Republican, found that the governor had improperly delegated responsibilities to “First Dude”, and that she had taken advantage of state transportation (airplane travel) for personal family use. I’m pretty sure she had to re-imburse the state for the travel expenses. At that point she announced that she was resigning because it was “causing too much of a distraction” to the people of Alaska, and declared victory. I don’t believe Troopergate was ever adjudicated.
Hagel has said, and voted for, things I disagree with, he’d still be 10,000 times better than Cheney or Rumsfeld were as Sec. of Defense. Make that several hundred thousand times better, for all the dead he would NOT have racked up to make a profit from his “investments” and “advice” to corporations.
“Republicans…don’t know what they want…”*But they DEFINITELY know what they don’t want, which is whatever Obama wants, unless Obama wants what they want, in which case…..(I guess you are right!)

Agreed, ansonia. Let’s trust Obama, Hagel’s close personal friend, on this one.

I thought being a “Maverick” was the strong point that McCain liked about Palin…?
