When it comes to deciding where to sleep, Hobbes can be very flexible.

@rmacprivate: No, this is Faron, Frieda’s cat, who made a brief appearance in Peanuts until Charles Schulz said that he couldn’t decide what to do with Faron, since he couldn’t have animals “thinking” to each other. The cat next door was the “thousand pound gully cat” who was never shown in Peanuts.

Hobbes looks more limp-quid than liquid!

@Ottodesu,Little Black Sambo is not pc, but I never thought of it that way. Besides, it was set in India, not Africa.

If I could sleep like a cat, you know in any position, on any surface, anywhere ,any time of day I would not give a second thought to all the things I dont know.

Love Hobbes’ expression in the last panel but had to turn my head to the left a little to see it properly.

Anyone remember the story of Little Black Sambo?Little Black Sambo was a little boy and in that book, can’t remember exactly but it seems he chased a tiget around a tree , around and around and he went so fast he turned into butter. ( yello tiger )

Which is odd, since the tigers in the story indicate to me more India than Africa. But, then, calling (Asian) Indians black is another example of racism anyway.

@masterskrain: I don’t remember the cat next door to Snoopy being named “World War II,” or the story about Snoopy mistaking the cat for a kid in a cat suit. Could that story have been in one of the later Peanuts TV shows, rather than in the comic strip? I have to admit that I didn’t pay very close attention to the cat-next-door strips in the later years, after they became quite repetitive. Charles Schulz went through so many topics in his 50 years, that he had to use quite a few repeating themes during his final years. Even a true genius has limits, as Bill Watterson realized after creating only about 8 1/2 years’ worth of highly original material.

And—being liquid—they can flow into your life and enrich you forever. Here’s to my pal and comrade, K.M.

Hobbes was dreaming about being the star of the Broadway production called “cats”.
