some places in the bible belt, football is the state religion. but, doesn’t the bible state that thy would not have any other god/faith/religion? does that mean they are polytheists, instead of mono? look at texas. High schools have multi-million dollar football stadiums that rival some colleges, recruit talented kids, train year around. then, have the games on friday night. saturday is college(ut longhorns), and on sunday, nfl(cowboys and the texans).

Rat is the least perfect character in the strip but the one with the biggest ego. An ego too big to accept how utterly imperfect he is.

Here in Wisconsin, the Green Bay Packes are a religion and Lambeau Field is considered a holy site.

Marx was wrong. Religion is not the opiate of the masses, sports is.

Recently saw a photo of a group of high school cheerleaders at a game with a poster that read something like, “With God on our side, we can’t lose”….. Perhaps god will smite the opposing quarterback….

Here in the South a football game always begins with a plea for Divine oversight, or at least it did until the crazy leftists in the courts called that “establishment of a religion.” Thank YHVH for crazy leftists imposing their religion on the rest of us.

Just as the Roman elite distracted the masses with games, so it continues while the elite/government robs its people of jobs, housing and retirement benefits. If Americans could only rally with such excitement and enthusiasm towards ending the debauchery in Washington as they do over sports, what a great country this could be. Sports not only splits masses of people into sides, but it feeds the ‘us-them’ mentality, sometimes resulting in physical fights and even riots amongst groups. Perfect! Keep the people distracted, drunk and fighting amongst themselves and the society of people living like drones to the elite prevails.

Back in the ’60s a man and his wife went to bed on a cold Wisconsin winter night.

    “GOD . . . your feet are cold!” . . . said the wife.

“No need to be so formal, dear.” . . . said the husband . . . “You can just call me Coach Lombardi like everyone else.”
