First charlie horse I ever got was in basic training so naturally I relate that malady to over exercise. Now that I think of it…..haven’t had one in years. :)

Just stand up and put a little weight on it – takes care of it right away!

Got one this morning when I started to get up. Often I can forestall this if I kick back and forth with both legs while still lying there. This morning I didn’t, so had to put the toes of the affected leg on the floor, then stre-e-etch my calf by putting heel on floor. Worst is a toe cramp – haven’t had one of those in a long time – have to stand on cramping toes with heel of other foot. Used to have cramps all over the place before started taking calcium supplements (need Vit. D with that).

I eat a banana first thing every day and rarely get charley horses anymore. But when I feel one coming on I shake my leg and bend it back and forth and that usually prevents it.

When I get leg cramps, depending on the severity will determine whether I have to stand up or not. I used to get major cramps in my arch until I started using arch supports in my shoes. I have a really high arch and I have yet to come across a shoe that would support it without additions.

For INSTANT relief, aspirin does the trick for me. Fortunately I rarely have that problem.
