The criminals that ignore today’s gun laws are the same criminals that will ignore the new gun laws after the Conn. massacre. It won’t change a thing. While the politictians are thumping their chests feeling good that they “accomplished” something, a few more illegal deaths from unregistered guns will happen.
Honest gun owners do NOT need military style weapons whose only purpose is to kill human beings. They do not need automatic weapons that can fire as fast as you repeatedly pull the trigger, nor do they need 30 round magazines.
Honest hunters and target shooters register their guns, and then keep them locked up. They can even get their guns back as they are registered in case someone does manage to steal them.
So, having sensible guns laws (just as having sensible traffic laws) Does NOT hurt the honest gun owner (or driver for that matter)!!!
OK, seriously now, what’s the problem with removing assault rifles (and nasty ammunition) from circulation? I’m a foreigner, and I assure you that the world is looking at the USA right now and just shaking our heads, as per this cartoon. Your precious gun freedoms give freedom to crazies to wipe out schoolrooms full of babies. An extremely conservative Australian government removed most from circulation and suddenly massacres stopped. The reaction to the IRA chief’s speech was like being gobsmacked. No point in replying to fools.Sorry for sounding insulting on Christmas Eve, but seriously Friends, wake up to sanity!
my daddy told me a bolt action rifle or a double barreled shotgun is all you need…by the time you get two shots off, the targetis either out of range, or you need to be a better shot.
I would much prefer to have a child with a scar than one who is dead. The two incidents show that those in China are better off because their children all survived, something all the parents of the Sandy Hook children would prefer.
It took one person with a gun to kill those innocent kids. If he couldn’t get access to that gun it wouldn’t have happened. .Never mind the Constitution and various amendments; what do you, as people, want? Is it freedom from being murdered? Is it freedom to murder? Or is it freedom to get on with your lives without the fear that a deranged moron is going to kill your children?
“During this same period, China suffered its own tragedy in one of its elementary schools, where a deranged man went into a school and stabbed nearly two dozen students. However, the lesson the Chinese learned was that their system was better than the U.S., because they don’t allow normal citizens to own modern guns.”
Given that NOBODY DIED in the China stabbing, wouldn’t you say that the point is worth considering?
I live right next door to Ft. Hood; a lot of this came out in the local news during the immediate aftermath. Enforcement is a key component of gun laws. the NRA fights against enforcement of gun laws as hard as they do legislation.

May 3, 1995, George H. W. Bush resigned as an NRA member when he disagreed with Wayne La Pierre. This has been going on a long time.

But criminals ignore ALL laws, anyway. Therefore, why have any laws at all? “When murder is outlawed, only outlaws will be murderers.”

I’ve known several people in my time who owned assault rifles. At least two of them claimed they owned them for self defense.
Not from criminals
From the GOVERNMENT.
