The comic has a perspective error: the highway is wider at the bottom of the cliff, when it should be roughly the same width depending on how vertical the wall of the cliff is.Unfortunately, the connected cracks at the bottom aren’t enough of a visual clue.
I call it the entitlement cliff, afterall that is a more appriopriate terminology describing the problem. If the government did away with entitlements imagine how much extra cash it would have. Don’t believe me, just look up how much entitlement programs are as a portion of the budget.
