i seem to remember a story where it was illegal to not carry a gun, can’t remember who wrote it or when but if i remember right it came from the 50s or 60s, might have been Harlen Ellison

Heinlein had a story in which people could choose to go armed or not. If they were unarmed, they were protected, but their rights were limited; if armed, they had full rights, but were required to fight to maintain them. It might have been allegory, but since it was Heinlein, maybe not.

Lapierre had a perfectly workable solution to the problem of gun violence in schools. Just put in enough armed guards to handle the situation. I estimate the average school would require about 10 armed guards to cover all of the doors.Where would we get the money to pay them? No problem, just tax each sale of weapons or ammunition enough to cover their salaries. That wouldn’t just cut down considerably on the sale of guns, it would be a big help in finding work for returning vets.

Regarding the strip on 1/1/13: One of the most ignorant comics ever made. Why aren’t you writing strips showing a bunch of African children starving with the statement, Maybe it’s time to start growing more food or Maybe it’s time to move somewhere else where we can grow food. 100% ignorant. One of the worst stripes around.

Instead of putting the criminals in jail, which they will eventually get out and commit more crimes. Just kill them. Kill all the biolent criminals and guess what? No more violent criminals or violent crime.
