Get to the part where nearly every single Christmas tradition from the date it’s celebrated on to the tree in everyone’s living room were one by one co-opted from pagan religious traditions.

    What do you mean “nearly”?

..The Church has always been good at accepting, incorporating and absorbing local customs.Salvation does not have to mean that you have to stop saluting the flag, raising a toast or celebrating.Just the opposite,in fact, when Jesus made all foods good to eat,it meant all cultures now had value.

‘Long time ago in Bethlehem, in a manger poor and small, Mary’s boy Child, Jesus Christ, was born to die for all’ ?? #Was the boy child actually named “Jesus Christ” at birth? No, just Jesus, not Christ till decades after his crucifixion – and then only upon intense infighting amongst the competing “christian” factions.

Spoken like a true conservative; responding to an innocent request of a child with a hate filled rant.

The quote of a true right-wing nut job. She’ll rail against everything in the public sector because, after all, society should exist only to funnel money from the working class to the parasitic class who grabbed it all for themselves when the grabbing was good; and because housing, food, and medicine should only be for those who can afford them. Also, she is reliably anti-intellectual (note the obligatory use of the adjective “worthless” when speaking of a Ph. D.). It’s (not really very) amazing that anti-darwinists are nearly always social darwinists, because “ignorant” and “mean” nearly always go together.

“THEY will call him ’Emmanuel.” It was a fulfillment of prophecy. As you know, Christians consider Jesus to be Emmanuel, “God with us.” In verse 21, Joseph is specifically told to call him Yeshua (Jesus).

My grandpa’s grandpa’s birthday was celebrated on a day in May. No one knew for sure what day his birthday was, but I hear he enjoyed celebrating it. My readings indicate that many Christmas traditions are based HEAVILY on “pagan” traditions. Yet, even the pagans were trying to understand what happens "after’. I like the idea of a Jesus so much, I don’t really care if it’s all a lie. If I err in the name of love, respect, compassion, and all of the things the beatitudes say love/charity is, then I err with honor and in good conscience.I often wonder what Jesus thinks of this birthday worship. He told us to think of God and love “God”. Jesus was not, a Christian. He is said to have said to get to the Father you had to go through him. Some say that meant we had to follow his example of love and compassion, not worship God through him. Part of that is to forgive those who know not what they do. Who said that?Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, & a safe and happy new year to you all.C.who will be making hot buttered rum tomorrow night.muhuhuhuhu!

Getting back to the ‘toon….what do you Christian folks tell your kids about Santa’s relationship with the bible? I guess the “Easter Bunny” falls into the same category?

You; I’m not fooled by you suddenly adding “Mr.” to your name. However, if you really are transgendered, then I’d think you’d be more in favor of GLBT rights.

“Thank you. I shall wear that insult as a badge of honor.”

Boy, you must have more decorations than the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree by now. Take care you don’t electrocute yourself; I suspect you’re not well-grounded.
