Actually, no. But since you brought it up, I can tell you this: whenever someone mentions to me how poorly Mr. Obama has done his job, and this started the day after his inauguration, I challenge them to look me in the eye and tell me that John McCain would have been a better president. To this day, no one has.

Now, look me in the eye and tell me Mitt Romney would be a better president. Can’t do it, can you?

I love the cartoon as I believe in hope, not as a political slogan, but as a way to get through bad days. Last year at this time, my wife had cervical stenosis- creeping paralysis. She lost sensation in her extremities from the neck down and had to be wheeled in a chair from place to place. The surgeon said if all he did was keep it from getting worse, the surgery would be a success. She is now walking up to two miles and goes to hydro therapy provided by our medical insurance.Hope that we would get to this place got us through the darkest moments last year. Hope for continuing improvement in both of our lives keeps us working for established goals. Hope for enlightenment, respectful neighbors, and a brighter future for all makes me type these words and others in hope, a mind or a heart will be opened and an angry voice will find a more respectful tone with which to debate an opinion. As far as December 25th goes, Jesus didn’t ask people to remember him on this birthday, he asked people remember the example he set. He didn’t tell us to remember the day of his death. He told us to love God, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In fact, the only time he asked to be remembered was when we ate or drank, and even then, he only asked that of his followers, not everyone. I am certain, he would not approve of the shopping festival our culture has wrapped around this alleged anniversary of his birth. If we see him on the other side, we can ask him about that. Until then,I “HOPE” you all have a safe holiday season, a fun and safe New Year’s eve, & all that life can offer you.Respectfully,& Hopefully,C.

Obama has shown fiscal responsibility by suggesting that the Bush tax cuts, which were never fiscally responsible, expire. This is politically difficult. The Republicans have proposed cutting NOTHING except tax rates. Oh, and food stamps, because America is not mean enough to the poor. Romney? His plan was to vastly increase spending in the military, cut stuff he wouldn’t name because he wasn’t going to cut it anyway, but lower tax rates. Really? That’s no different from Obama?

So both dates are equally well researched?

The cartoon was NOT taking about politics, but neither did Christ himself. It was talking about the hope of the Birth of Christ as opposed to the end of the world supposedly predicted by the Mayans. If you can not understand that, then you will never understand spiritual things. And instead of being angry with you I should try to extend true spiritual love to you!

So, have a truly wonderful and thoughtful Christmas!

Hope! Yes. A good sentiment. Leave it to a bunch of grumps to try to politicize something so simple.

Not only that, but Christmas is far from being the central mystery of the Christian mythology.
