I live in California. We have probably the strictest gun control in the nation. We have a mental health database plus all the criminal background databases state and federal, gun shows have to run background checks and there is a 14 day waiting period for purchases. If someone is on the mental health database and then they seek and complete treatment, the state removes them and they can purchase firearms. Now they want to make it a permanent restriction if they are ever on the list, just in case…
Actually that is a good start. Also tax gun sales to fund the new police state we need to man every school, mall, theater and public place with a guard to protect us from the odd gun lover who decides its time to kill people.
I don’t like guns. I never have, and I never will. That said, taking all the guns away, or making them cost too much is not the answer. Because even if, somehow, you manage to get all the guns, and keep them away from people, there will be a 10000% rise in people being bludgeoned to death. You can’t legislate away the sick, dark little corners of people’s minds that make them do unthinkable, terrible things.
it didnt take Lisa long to get back to the party-line. They all had their moment of obligatory grief so now they can safely get back to rallying against gun control. I wonder who pays her.
Not only tax every bullet but tax every numbskull idea the NRA comes up with. I mean how seriously can Wayne LaPierre be taken when he said every school in America should have armed guards ? Who’s going to pay for that ? The NRA ? Then he shifts blame to the movies & video games. How do you explain the gun violence prior to the invention of movies & televisions ? Until we simply ban assault weapons we the public will continue to be slaughtered by these crazed individuals.
Hmm, I like the idea. Tax the bullets at the factory level so the manufacturer collects it with their sales, the re-sellers collect it from their customers.
Boehner says only increase taxes on those earning over $1 million per year. As that includes Wayne La Pierre, care to wonder what his real interest in the NRA is?
“So the Mexican and Asian and etc. gangs have a hard time getting guns in California since they go through legal channels, is that what you are trying to say?”
I said nothing even remotely close. You must be getting delusional if that’s what you construe from what I posted…
It’s totally true that guns don’t kill people, or at least rarely- about the only way you can kill someone with a gun is to beat them to death with it.There is no point in outlawing guns. They are out there, there are millions, they are made of metal and will last for a thousand years if they are kept oiled. Failing that, I could find materials in my basement that would produce a workable gun, and it doesn’t take much knowledge of the subject to figure out how to do it.BULLETS, on the other hand, are time consuming to make and require special equipment. Production of enough to do serious damage would require planning and patience that are not characteristic of those who shoot up elementary schools. And, working on such a project might attract the attention of someone sane.Bullets can be individually stamped, and their sale can be registered and entered into a computer base. They can be tracked from production to use, so that every bullet can be traced back to the person who purchased it. This way, a guy who wants to buy a couple boxes of bullets to go shoot deer, or the woman who wants a box to keep with the gun in her bedside drawer, won’t set off any warning bells. But the guy who is buying an arsenal will attract attention before he finds a more lethal way to do it.

So did Cook County Illinois get the idea from California or was it the other way around?

And that is the REAL problem.

So, exactly how many NRA members are involved in gun crimes? You sound like you’d know.

Just the banks where there are armed guards. Not all banks have them these days.

I don’t see what is so radical about taxing bullets, at the very least it brings in revenue. even if it saves 1 life you have
more tax money to spend on psychiatric care1 more human being alive

Most of this boils down to “Make somebody else do something or give up something so I don’t have to change!”

But Himari, in the time it takes to bludgeon someone to death, an assault rifle can kill thousands!!!

Uh, folks, the Pittman-Robertson act ALREADY taxes firearms and ammunition, as well as archery equipment, to provide funds for wildlife management.
