If no one blinks and we go over the cliff, Boehner will be in a much weaker position in January because 1) a majority of Americans will blame the GOP, and 2) there will be fewer GOP in the House and Senate, including fewer Tea Party members. So Boehner needs to decide whether he wants to blink now or later. Those are his only choices.
Bruce, where did you get your information? Neither Pelosi nor Schumer ever supported keeping the Bush tax cuts on people earning a million dollars a year. Pelosi wanted it set at $100,000, Obama wanted $250,000 plus the payroll tax cut. The Republicans want taxes down on the rich and up on people who work, big surprise.

His four years of class warfare prattle took root in a beat-down an’ frustrated populace who (again!) proved that it’s easy to point the finger of blame so long as it’s pointed at someone else. ’Can’t blame the poor – they have no influence. ’Can’t blame any minorities – that wouldn’t be PC, now would it? ’Can’t blame the working stiffs in the middle-class…so the blame has to go to those ‘rich folks’ who just seem to ‘have wealth’ but their source of wealth is harder to see, so they must’ve stolen it, or inherited it, cheated the government out of it, or got it on the backs of the little guy – but it’s for sure that they couldn’t possibly have WORKED for it, right? – Right! – So blame the rich, tax the rich…and then with all that extra revenue that we get by making the wealthy pay their “fair share”, we’ll maybe have enough to fund the bloated obese federal bureaucracy another week or so… now that’s what I would call a really BIG F’ING DEAL. It’s so obvious that the war on the rich is really a war on America’s capitalism, innovation, exceptionalism, and freedoms…It doesn’t matter who blinks or when…The liberal-dominated media will tell us that the bad guys are the fiscal an’ social conservatives, and that they deserve to lose – but the real loser on this fiscal cliff fiasco is US…We, The People…No matter what happens, or on what day – We, The People are being screwed, an’ we will continue to be screwed…Because the leftist agenda is to take from those who have worked for their means, an’ give it to those who don’t want to work for their means…Almost half of our population is living off the government dole now…an’ it’s growing every day…This is what the left wants…the total redistribution of wealth which will level the playing field an’ eradicate any incentive to work harder or to seek the American dream of financial independence an’ success.I’m NOT referring to Social Security, here. Can’t afford a cell phone? – No worries…if you are on food stamps (47% are!), the feds will GIVE you a cell phone…Let those heavily-taxed working stiffs pay for it…you’re a victim of some form of bias or prejudice, and you deserve a free pass…Don’t hold your head up – just stick your hand out!
