“The police department logged more than 50 gunfire complaints this year through July, double the number for all of 2011, records show. Some of the complaints raised another issue. Gun enthusiasts here, as elsewhere in the country, have taken to loading their targets with an explosive called Tannerite, which detonates when bullets strike it, sending shock waves afield. A mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, Tannerite is legal in Connecticut, but safety concerns led Maryland this year to ban it.
Mr. Faxon, the police commission member, who is a lawyer, said he wrote the new ordinance, which would have imposed additional constraints on shooting, including limited hours, and a requirement that any target shooting range, and the firearms that would be used there, be approved by the chief of police to make sure they were safe. lets add all the nuclear weapons in the US arsenal, as well as all the other murderous weapons in the US military, as well as all the lethal weapons that the cops use to terrorize us with. then we’ll feel safe enough to disarm.do you really doubt that we are heading for a police state, as the capitalist class steps up its terrorist tactics on us?there won’t be any serious attempts to hurt the arms capitalists’ profits (regulate weapons) until the working class fightback really gets going and the rulers get panicky.

@rightsrightpardon me, but it seems like you that might not be smart enough to get it. the mom had 6 modern guns, some assault weapons, and she’s not with us anymore. MURDERED BY HER OWN GUN.seems like that happens alot.hmmm, if the assault weapons ban was still in effect there would be some 27 people alive today, in just this incident.
Again if we are going to insist on owning these monstrous things we need to be held responsible for making sure they do not get into the hands of the mentally ill.
It appears cartoonists are just as dumb as politicians. The cause was mental illness, Asperger’s Syndrome, and a severe lack of professional help for parents or sufferers. We have an autism spectrum epidemic that needs public attention.
There were two armed officers at Columbine who shot at Eric Harris but couldn’t stop the carnage. It’s a good thing the officers didn’t hit any innocent bystanders when they missed Harris.
For all you people who “think” (and I use that word loosely) banning weapons will solve problems… how has banning meth, crack, heroin, marijuana worked out for ya?

Australia had a voluntary buy-back program, and it seemed to have worked. I don’t think anybody is advocating that we “send the police door to door”….
