I wouldn’t be too enthusiastic about pancakes for dinner now, but when I was a kid, Pancake Tuesday was one of my favourite occasions.

When I was a scrawny kid of eleven, I could eat my age in pancakes..At 77, I’m lucky to get TWO down my goozle.

I know how Joan feels. I wonder what happens to each minute of days. Guess I’m getting slower. And my day changes New Years Eve. To people who like me get left out Happy Birthday for New Years Eve.

From the age of five, I loved watching Christmas decorations being brought down from the attic, and helped to pack them away carefully on January 6th for a whole, long year. Now, in my eighties they are heaped in a trunk, which never gets stored away because in no time at all (it seems) they’ll be hanging up again. There are never enough hours in a day now to do everything I want to do, although, come to think of it, there never has been!

Pancakes and eggs for dinner, steak and eggs for breakfast, egg sandwich for lunch! And a hard-boiled egg for a mid-day snack! What kind of eggs will they eat in Paris?

Cold pizza anytime is OK with me! Microwaves just make the crust a bit rubbery!
