American business, and Republicans wished for “W” and Cheney to have power. It is the classic example of “be careful what you wish for”. The nation, and our veterans will be paying off that wish, for decades to come, and yes, it will be painful, for many, in many ways.
Mickey: I have friends who are amputees and others paraplegics as a result of the Cheney/Rumsfeld/“W” escapades who have a lifetime to live with the results of their idiocies. Our public, as well as private debt in this country is largely a DIRECT RESULT of their actions to deregulate, and “de-tax” their friends even with much greater enthusiasm than Reagan or “Daddy Bush”.
Just as my friends can’t “get over” being amputees, it is important for the nation NOT to forget who got us into the trouble Obama is trying to get us out of, like Iraq, Afghanistan, and overwhelming debt that is the direct result of tax breaks while we entered into TWO wars, and a ludicrous increase in contracting to private firms,, greatly increasing the cost of everything in government, from war-fighting, to fuel, to repairing what little infrastructure was maintained under “W”. Yes, it is that failure to maintain our nation, under Reagan, Bush, and "W’, that also increases our long-term “costs” that people should NOT forget who to appropriately blame for those problems. Mr. Beoehner, and Senator McConnell have also done their very best to make matters worse, period.
They weren’t the pony we might have wished for, they were a herd of goats.
Okay, so I’ve read Morty’s comment, and I’m still unsure. Is she trying to say that California is just a bunch of little girls? Am I trying to read more into this than what’s really here?

Have a horse, thanks. A saddle that fits him, now, that would help a lot.

It might be from the old joke about the very optimistic boy, digging enthusiastically through a large pile of horse manure.
When asked what he was doing, he said “There’s got to be a pony in here somewhere.”
Pile of manure = California economy. Pony = Anything positive.

Thanks for the explanation.
All I could come up with was a Pony of Beer!
1xPony=.5 of a Quarter barrel or 1/8th of a full barrel. Pony’s fit in the fridge!
Frohes Weihnachten, frohe Feiertage, frohes Fest. (I hope that translated properly!)

@Nos Nevets – It took an European to explain the joke because… it took many Europeans to create and rise America!

Bear in mind that some in California want a pony so they can butcher it and eat it, because they’re starving.
Such a merry Christmas theme, Lisa.

I’ve heard (and used) the expression, but didn’t make the connection with this toon until Morty helped out. Thanks.
