You DO have to pay for that portion of union dues that covers negotiation with employers for better wages and working conditions, just as if you live in a state you have to pay for the schools and highways. I think the point of the comic was to show how willing liberals are at using violence to “persuade” the other side to their viewpoint. Here is a link of a video captured (that is likely going viral) when asked a question about why they oppose right to work (note asking a question, not degrading the position), and then protecting people inside the tent. So, liberal posters and union supporters: Is this what your beliefs support? Is this what you feel unions should do to protect their positions of authority? Do you support this usage of your union dollars?

Wow. Long post. To simply respond: You have the right to peacefully assemble, not to commit assault (section 750.81, Assault and Battery) on another person, regardless of what that person is saying. And destruction of property (section 750.377a) is still illegal, despite the union members thinking it’s okay to break someone else’s stuff if you disagree with their viewpoint. If you think what that guy did was legal and acceptable, it explains a lot. Riddle me this: If it was a Tea Party rally that was set up, and Tea Party members did what these union members did, what would have been said? The media would have been howling over the hate crimes, the liberal complex would have been labeling conservatives as hatemongers, and the president would be expressing deep sympathy to the numerous liberal victims who were wrongfully assaulted by the rabid Tea Party. And yet the only coverage this is getting is from Facebook. Why is that? You all talk about how the media is conservatively-biased. This right here proves that you are wrong.The tent DID have a woman in it (as seen on the video after the tent was knocked down, as she crawled out from under it. So… that would be a factually accurate statement.You also assume that he was trying to incite a riot. The US Military are those people, because I am one of those people. Don’t confuse a hard day’s work with risking your life. I’ve seen the operating floors of these factories. While there are very heavy loads moving around, there are so many safety mechanisms that they no longer are at risk of life and limb. The ONLY ones that I would consider risking life and limb are the high-rise steel workers, because they make a misstep and off they go. But plumbers are not exactly putting their necks on the line every day.Now, to answer the general situation, I do approve of the unionization back when they were first conceived. Workers did need protection back then. The unions, when doing their jobs, were great for the American worker. But, like all good things, evolution will leave dinosaurs in the past. And that’s what Unions have become. Go out with grace, or go out with bluster. Because if you look at the statistics, labor unions are going out: Down to 7% of the private sector. Won’t be long until all of them are defunded and gone. Why is that? It’s because the DOL has protections for workers at the federal level. It’s because there is OSHA. And that’s not counting state-specific laws regarding work. And if you feel it’s still not safe enough for your tastes, change jobs. I have NEVER been a part of a union. The Teamsters screwed my grandfather over, and I will never join a union because of the thuggish behavior I see by individuals at all levels of union membership. Any time unions’ authority over government is usurped, the union rank-and-file shows its ass. Look at what they did to the capital building in Wisconsin during the union bill battle. Teachers preached about caring about their students, but schools were closed because the teachers were too busy protesting. This puts parents out. You think parents are going to support your position when they have to leave work and lose wages? And then there’s the millions of dollars in damages they did to the capitol building. People would clog up the toilets, and would prevent maintenance crews to get in there, so they started defecating in the halls and corners of the building. Is THIS what you want to represent you to the nation? When violence erupts, for whatever reason, there is no public condemnation by ANYONE in the labor movement to say “While he was egged on, he never should have punched that person.” There was no condemnation by anyone saying, “While we don’t approve of the bill, there’s no reason to crap in the corners of the building.” So in the deafening echo of your silence, we base our opinions on what we are shown. You have no-one to blame but yourselves for your fall in the eyes of the public. Right now, accurate or not, all you guys look like is rabid racoons. The union membership could take a lesson or three in the civil rights movement back in the (I think) 60’s. They had SIT INS. They had peaceful marches and demonstrations. They had guest speakers that inspired (MLK Jr). They didn’t go on a destructive and violent rampage. They were assaulted, sprayed with fire hoses, and some murdered. But they endured with grace. By comparison, what the unions appear to be doing is looking like a spoiled brat, throwing a temper tantrum at having his toys taken away.
