This story is so sad but, true.

All those elements represent a good start!

It’s time for America to stop talking about “American Exceptionalism” and do something exceptional. We may not need to go all the way back to 75% (permanently) and it may not be possible nor desirable to bring back ALL those jobs. Otherwise you are right… and definitely pointing in the right direction.

And yet we’re still tearing down the enviroment for more of these empty houses and what not.

You have four “foreclosed” signs on three houses.

What a shame if they gave a Christmas and no-one came.

This could so easily have been avoided by making permanent the tax cuts for the job creators.

Half of the country riding in the wagon, the other half pulling it. The 1% with 16% of the revenue paying 40% of all taxes. Still ain’t enough. America! Home of the formerly free; land of the formerly brave. Ancient Greece showed us how to destroy Democracy through the voting booth; Modern Greece through mob rule. Obama/Sebelius/Pelosi through the welfare state.

this is the result of banks promoting that houses are income generators, and not the abode of one would live. that banks promoting mortgaging your house again and again. and, said banks began to package all those subprime loans, paid rating agencies that they were the best, and sold it to suckers. maybe we should foreclose on the banks.

Have you ever thought about eliminating the tax exempt status of the Super-Duper, Mega Churches? Not the small, neighborhood ones, they’re fine and do a lot of good for the communities they’re in.

. I mean the Huge Corporate structured ones that own Crystal Palaces, TV and Radio networks, Amusement Parks, tens of million$ in real estate both public and private, skyscraper buildings, banking and invest heavily in the stock market.

Those are not churches… they are multi-billion dollar, commercial enterprises. Eliminate the tax exempt status of those and it would add over $3 Billion to tax revenues and stop the “Dive-Over-The-Cliff” right in it’s tracks.It is so obvious that you would think that if those “Churches” really cared about doing God’s work… they would bring it up themselves. After all… didn’t their Lord and Savour instruct them to : “Sell all that ye have and give to the poor?”

Just thinking.

Dig up Roosevelt and Truman and try them for mass murder. Restore all the tax exemptions that have been taken away “and” bring back the jobs from the 3rd and 4th world countries where the workers are slaves.

Yes, we wet to a really large family party last night (multiple families that I knew since my kids were in school). Great conversation, food and drinks. The only thing marring that (for those of us who remember harder times) was the speed with which the kids opened their gifts. One of their grandmothers even commented that she hates buying them presents because they have more than they can appreciate.

Throw in the current administration for violating the Constitution and not producing a budget

Wiley must have driven through my neighborhood, here in Florida… It’s way too sad, and I speak from personal experience.Nevertheless, I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS today and hope that, for everyone, the New Year will be healthy, happy and prosperous.

A good toon, but folks are conveniently ignoring the role your government played in this sad fiasco. Hello, bank – this is the government calling – we want you to make riskier loans will that be ok? Bank: No, that is not the way we do business. Government: we will insure the bad loans. Bank – cool – lets do it.

.How about people in power stop saying and start doing? Get off our butts and start using alternative fuels, even if it means strong arm tactics? And what is so hard about creating hydrogen? Hook up two nine volt batteries with the wire stripped in a bowl of water, BOOM! Cracked hydrogen and oxygen. Or natural gas; use the resulting carbon for use in carbon-fiber or manmade diamonds for industry. And for the record, hydrogen is actually safer than diesel-based fuels (higher combustion point) and provides more power. We could have muscle cars again!

Greed is not limited to certain income levels, it is pretty much a problem for all. I saw a lot of foreclosures during the late 70’s and 80’s because some people did not want to live within their means.

Going around my town looking at how other houses were decked out for the season this year was a bit of a let down….too many dark (possibly foreclosed or otherwise empty houses)….When I was much younger almost every house was decked out…and winters seemed somehow warmer back then too.Today the “high” was 13 degrees. and it felt GOOD to get back to my warm little house paid for years ago with sweat and blood. One string of lights across the front and a candle (battery operated) in the front window. Merry Christmas to all.
