I fondly remember this one.

Reminds me of one “Calvin and Hobbes” where Calvin wants “Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie” read to him, which his father disagrees until he finally reads it, but differently where Huey’s decapitated.

Madeline has handled this crisis with admirable resolve. Giving in to Alice’s ever-increasing demands would send the wrong message, as well as exhausting motherly resources!(Why does this sound so political?)

Enough is enough.

Our daughter wanted us to scratch her back and they we’d say, “Don’t be scared of bees and spiders and don’t be scared and don’t be scared.” and then she could go to sleep.

: ) I’m sorry we didn’t get to see the Whoopsie Bedtime Pratfall…

She needs to do the Peter Panda Dance, complete with spears, blowtorch and industrial acid.

Better not let Alice see A Baby Sister for Frances by Russell Hoban, or she’ll want to pile up her bed with loads of toys (including a sled, as I recall) before she can sleep.

When my daughter doesn’t get enough bed-time rituals, she makes up her own. After a few minutes, I have to go in there and tell her to stop bouncing on the bed.

The same son who used to beg me for another bedtime song till I ran out of songs, now gives me a “Mom…No!” when I sing along with the radio. :(

Tell her a scary story so she won’t want to hear any more. Or sleep, for that matter.

I was just gonna suggest that! Hilarious!
