Hey, Pig, prunes come from plums. Can I trust you to keep that secret? Oh, and french fries come from potatoes.

Are you kidding me? The California Raisins took the song from the Marvin Gaye version, who took it from Gladys Knight and the Pips. Creedence just did an 11-minute cover. Marvin’s version is the most recognized.

True, Marvin recorded it first. The Pips version, I believe, was the first that was released, in ‘67, then Marvin released his on an album in ’68. I’m no expert. The only version I own is on Cosmo’s Factory, whixh remains my favorite CCR album.

I hear that wine comes from grapes as well. I sometimes refer to wine as “crushed, fermented grape juice.” Time for a tasty Brunello with dinner tonight

Goat in frame 3 is not just letting that sink in, he’s sneakily filing a process patent.

Harking back to yesterday’s (and the days preceding it) strip, I just saw a video like this on Facebook that reminded me of the croc-dolphin dustup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itW2EPXxHDU

Wonder what Mr. Snuffles would have done?

i really can’t stand this comic…i do not understand how everybody thinks it’s so good…..it’s unfortunate it has to be in the line-up and you are forced to scroll past it whether you want to or not. Ah, well. Onward…….

    According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Heard_It_Through_the_Grapevine

Smoky Robinson and the Miracles recorded it first followed by Marvin Gaye but neither was released. Gladys Knight released it as a single in 1667 and Gaye released his version on an album in 1968. Gayes verion is the most popular sounding totally different from the Knight bersion.

My 5 year old just learned that his favorite fruit, grapes, are actually his least favorite thing, raisins, in dried form. I thought the info would make him like raisins more but it only made him angry and want “real grapes”.

I have a hard time playing the verses of ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’, especially without accompaniment. I just can’t keep the rhythm straight. The chorus is easy, and fun to play.
