So, that’s what the Redfern’s basement looks like.

Maybe Trudeau’s the one with writer’s block here. Love that mountain goat, though.

And the hero meets his end at the bottom of a cliff with a splat. I would have expected a thud.

“The fluttering end of his scarf snagged on a protruding bit of scrub, almost snapping his neck, but swinging him against the wall of the cliff with a lurching thud. Fortunately he had lost his boots in the struggle and digging in with fingers and toes he began the long climb back to his faithful steed, Petreaus.”

I would prefer a timely delivery from the Acme Elastics company, followed by continued pursuit of of the Roadrunner. That might be a generational preference though.

This would be a good time for Jeff to check his Cliff’s Notes.

“… the rocket boosters in his shoes ….”

If no shoes — see panels 4, 5, & 6 — then no rocket booster carrying shoes.

Back to the drawing boards with you!

GT/ Jeff could claim artistic license and turn the story however he wants to. Also, the movies have tons of mistakes in terms of what is realistic and they get by with it all the time…

Its kind of scary when the Doonesbury strip begins reflecting Obama’s actual Middle East policy.

Ha! Well, I guess it would be scary if today’s strip was in fact something that had to do with Obama’s foreign policy, but since that is certainly not the case, we can all rest easy…Instead, today’s strip is about the rambling mind of the Red Rascal and not one of his better days at that, as it is portraying Jeff experiencing writer’s block.

Not necessarily. He’s got that long scarf – and the “last minute save” is always good for a cliffhanger chapter ending.; )

A poor man with an ox cart stacked high with mattresses was passing below so rather than “splatting” into oblivion the indomitable “Rascal” was boinged into a nearby stream where he was rescued by a boatload of local beauties who peeled grapes for him and gave him foot massages.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<This all makes perfect sense. The Sorkil Razil is a physical metaphor for BHO.The “Faithful Steed Petraeus” represents the guy and army that carried BHO their back.No shoes on the Razil represent a broke America that gave all the treasure to the middle East. The freedom hater has finally drained America and now throws them off the cliff because he can give no more. The goat expression is because he suddenly realizes he alone on a mountain with a freedom fighter. The goat represents the poor common man. Good read Watashi.

“… “Faithful Steed”, is actually the result of a secret C.I.A./N.S.A./DARPA genetic modification project, and is actually the world’s first fully functional Pegasus!”

    Creative!

$500 a month for an unfinished basement is pretty steep rent for your son with writer’s block…

Razil finds himself in the same condition as the republican party, doesn’t he? No ideas. No hope. No use.

Is this the end of Sorkh Razil…or a new beginning?

Jeff Redfern…C.I.A. intern…a doofus barely alive. We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him…BETTER than he was. Better. Stronger. FASTER! The Six Billion Dollar Rascal!

Of course, if they can’t make him any smarter than he was, it’s just a matter of time before he falls off another cliff.

The “splat” was Rascal landing in a huge vat of rising pancake dough, from which he emerges sticky and embarrassed but quite unhurt. The group of fully observant Rabbis who were about to have breakfast immediately fall into an intricate argument about whether or not the dough is still kosher.

While they wrangle heatedly, Rascal helps himself to a pair of boots and a couple AK47’s, slings a few bandoleers around his neck, and storms off to find his Faithful Horse Petraeus.
