Silly me. I thought she had common sense and would wait till he came over in the summer. Silly, silly, silly me.

Everything is awkward for Gunther! Maybe Rosa, and Luann and Quill, can loosen him up a bit before he drowns in own anxiety-sweat!

Also, Re:Christmas Discussion from last night.

It doesn’t actually matter what Jesus’s birthday is anymore. What matters is the charitable works that get done in His name every December. Besides, He runs the universe. If His birthday is celebrated on December 25th, it’s cause He wants it that way. Else He would’ve given somebody a Divine Revelation to fix it by now.

Okay, forgive me if this offends anyone but I think Gunther is a complete dork. Nothing is in his comfort zone. Seems as though over the years he is “awkward” in just about any situation, it amazes me that Rosa finds him attactive in any way. (All people need some physical closeness, he has trouble even holding hands for gosh sakes.) And what is so awkward here, cannot he not even bowl with two other people and hold a conversation with the third? Why is he so nervous? This is more of a weird but fun situation and should be right up a teen’s “alley” so to speak. I would have thought it to be a blast!

Also, I note that he didn’t even say hello although Quill has given his greeting. I rest my case for total dork-hood.

As for Rosa finding Gunther attractive…she must be one of those ‘I like to take care of my guy’ type of girls. The type that wants to mother their boyfriends. That’s the only conceivable type Gunther could draw in.

Why the weird word bubbles?

This is hyperbole – a caricature of adolescent insecurity manifested in Gunther. It’s what comics is all about. We often need an exaggeration of reality to make a point and speaking of reality, doesn’t “Reality TV” seem to be unreal?

I know it’s crude to say it, but Greg needs to get Gunther laid.

No one seems to have noticed yet that Gunther appears to have brought his own bowling ball. What is the likelyhood that he cleans up tonight and shows some confidence in the end?

Gunther reminds me of Monk.

Wow, I’m amazed at how much some of you hate Gunther… Since I was pretty much the same way in social situations (And still am, actually), I’m beginning to see why my teenage years were such a lonely HELL

This IS awkward. He’s on a date with a a girl he currently has a crush on, the girl he’s had a crush on for years before that and her boyfriend, who’s only there via smart phone. Awkward is a very appropriate assessment.

(Thanks to y’all, I’m finally starting to pick up on the details.)*About yesterday’s strip on $mas, I made and delivered cookies for my neighbors this weekend. Angela, maybe Rosa is a “take care of my guy” girl. But a lot of women also would be interested in having a dependable man who is a good provider. Or in a man who has the same values she does.

Hah. I think Evan’s idea of having the “double date” with one person on the cell phone is very cute and novel and funny all in one. A great, creative idea! I look forward to this week’s adventures!

Wow, I hope Gunther grows out of this awkward phase soon. Let him go away for college and come back in a few years when he has gained some confidence and social skills.

MikeyJ, since I can totally relate to Gunther too, I have the right to say “Fake it ‘til you make it. Your social skills aren’t going to get any better without working on them.” Mine have gotten better in the last couple years, but I still sometimes feel awkward in big crowds and around cute guys.
