It’s not demographics, let’s talk about the role of the individual.

Of course many will disagree, but to me the natural evolution of the “moderate” republicans is to the Libertarian party. When you read the platform of Gary Johnson it has broad appeal in terms of the social issues, a conservative economic program and a diminished role of the military and foreign aid. This discussion about the republican party is about a lack of appeal for minorities, the gay community, women’s issues etc. What appealed to me about Libertarians is many of these issues are not even discussed, they are just accepted. Abortion? It’s the woman’s choice, it’s her body. Gay marriage? I really don’t care what anyone does in their bedroom as long as it doesn’t hurt someone else. They might as well support the marriage/divorce process just like the rest of us! Legalizing drugs? Tax it, regulate the sale and decriminalize it. Prohibition has never worked and still doesn’t.Okay, my sales pitch is done. Check it out.http://www.lp.org/

Remember, even the “founding fathers” actually saw the country as being ruled by the “cream at the top”. It was later that the concept of the “melting pot” came about, as a result of the Constitution (as amended), NOT the “Declaration of Independence”.

It’s also interesting, but ignored, that a majority of the land base was occupied by “Hispanics” centuries before the “Anglos” arrived. Even the Russians beat the British to the Northwest and Alaska.

And yes, let’s not forget those early “Hispanics” and Russians were greedy white guys.(Who used the natives as slaves, and imported more from Africa.)

the GOP platform is always FOR THE INDIVIDUAL.the Democrat Party platform is always for Big Daddy Government for targetted “classes” and “voting blocs” to vote to GET FREEBIES and be the PERMANENT DEPENDENT CLASS. Democrats promote Abortion which kills INDIVIDUALS before they can be born. Democrats also promote legalizing every sin listed in the Bible in Romans chapter 1, causing God to allow the majority who accept the lowering of moral standards to have their way and destroy a civilization. It is not the GOP that practises Scoff-Law governance….it is not the GOP that will relegate the USA to history’s ashheap.

Nah. The GOP is for the individual making their own decisions… unless you’re female, you aren’t a Southern Baptist, or you work for a living. Then you’re a deadbeat who needs to be told by government how to act, since your freedoms (as nicely enumerated in the hate-ridden post by DTP just above) are immoral, sinful, and unAmerican. Please. I know who is promoting freedom, and it ain’t the tea party.

Wishful thinking. They are circulating petitions to secede from the US even as we write here.

I’m 66 and our country is too established to be absolutist and just flip a switch to change everything. Political theory vs real practice are two different things. I see it more as a progressive change for republicans on social issues without dumping all the conservative fiscal values.

I for one would like to see some of the Progressive Platform of 1912 implemented. I’d like to think some ideas proposed a CENTURY ago wouldn’t be too radical for today’s GOP, considering they were proposed by a sometime Republican…though, sadly, they are.http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/index.asp?document=607

@disgustedtaxpayer A moral GOP, snort!….(posted by ahab)-I said the GOP PLATFORM, ahab! The party platform is written by party members and party activists to showcase the GOP principles the majority of the party members support. -@Ima….the Liberal “fantasy island” is going to turn out to be the “Liberal Sector of Satan’s Lake of Fire in Eternity” unless individuals in the Liberal- political -belief-system wake up and leave for the more Orthodox-historically-true-system.-How any Bible-believing Christian or any Orthodox Judaist can support the Democrat/Liberal agenda that goes contrary to all 66 books of God’s Word, is a mystery to me.
