When our dogs came in from a wet, muddy, or snowy walk, my mother would insist that the paws had to be washed in a plastic tub. The older dog endured this, while the younger dog willingly stepped into the warm water and let us work the dirt out from between her paw pads – she appreciated the chance to warm her feet on cold days.

Cocker spaniel feet get pretty dirty, due to the hair growing between the pads.
