Heard a girl on the radio who was born in the USA and raised in China. She had just voted for the first time and had voted for Obama because “he was cute.” She was then looking forward to voting in the Chinese elections. There is an industry in our country where women from other nations come to our country until they have their baby, then they return to their home country. Eighteen years later, a young adult who may have not been in our country since their birth is able to send in an absentee ballot and vote for people and on issues for which they have little knowledge. It is not just the Chinese, there are a number of countries doing this.I am wondering if we need to take another look at our laws making infants of foreign nationals automatic citizens. Maybe a clause on entrance visas waiving automatic rights to the infants born to women who are pregnant on arrival. It just seems wrong that a person can be born here and then never spend any time with Americans, or learn anything about America, and still have a voice in our political system. Immigrants have to take classes and learn about America before they can vote. I don’t know what needs, or even if anything should, be done. I just know I find this situation uncomfortable.Respectfully,C.

there are many foreign citizens that live here, work here, own property here, pay taxes here. Since the bulk of our votes has to do with taxes and what they’re used for, don’t you think that these legal, legimtimate foreign citizens that carry their weight deserve some kind of representation for their tax dollars and loyalty?

Funny, I heard a story like that, American mothers coming to give birth in Canada so their kid wouldn’t have to serve in the American army later.

^and since corporations are people too, with free speech, shouldn’t we be sponsoring a constitutional amendment to give corporations a vote, perhaps even more than one vote. it might be time for one man/one vote to go. with a third candidate running it doesn’t even work.
