I showed my birth certificate, social security card, two proofs of address and paid $54.25 so I can vote. Guess who I’m voting for?

What ID do you think would work then? Since that is one of the major issues presented that it has seemed to differ depending on where you were and almost who you talked to. Also exactly why is it suddenly now an issue to have voter ID when it hasn’t been earlier, or it just because they dislike Obama so much that they corrupt the democratic process with acts like that.

Republicans keep saying that government is corrupt and inefficient. Turns out they’re right — when it comes to Republican state government and Republican-run federal agencies. The eight-hour lines are INTENTIONAL and by design.

You don’t have a constitutional right to fly, get into other countries, or use a credit card, so if you’re unfairly denied the ability to do those things it isn’t a constitutional problem. Try reading the document one of these days. It has big words, but I’m sure you can get a grownup to help you.

The Black Panthers thing is so overblown. There were two (2) black men outside a voting booth in a heavily black precinct, who claimed they were The New Black Panther Party. Nobody was intimidated or threatened. They were told to leave and were escorted away from the vicinity. Since they complied with the authorities, and since they broke no laws, they were never prosecuted. So much for the New Black Panthers. They never blocked any whites from entering the polling place. Sorry if that doesn’t fit into your delusions.

You have the money to fly?!?! There are many others who don’t even have the money for a bus! But you would never understand that. Oh yes, and they are working two jobs and supporting a family on minimum pay so others can fly in their corporate jets.

I have an idea. Let the states require IDs, and then fine them $1M per legitimate US citizen who is denied their right to vote due to the states’ inability to provide IDs in time for the election.

While we now vote by mail, though I drop my ballot off, for 32 years, my sole form of I.D. has always been my signature. It used to be on the precinct voter list where I signed, now on the ballot envelope.

When a new neighbor sneered at my Obama sign and asked, “Were you born in this country?” I was tempted to give him a “knuckle sandwich” on the spot, but just pointed out that my Army baseball cap, and DAV life membership pin, gave me all the “proof” I need to vote, or claim citizenship. (Yes, he’s a “4F chickenhawk”.)

We need to start a petition making election day a day off. I don’t think we should create a NEW holiday, but Columbus Day isn’t necessary when we need to make voting easy and accessible. I wouldn’t want to move election day to February and President’s Day, but if Washington and Lincoln had their say in it, I think they’d rather we take a day off to vote than to shop in their names. We don’t need another “paid” holiday, but election day is as important as the Fourth of July. Voting is that service we perform that makes President’s Day, Juluy 4, Veterans’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc, holidays we are ABLE to celebrate. I’m against electronic voting machines too. Just sayin’.Respectfully,C.

The long lines were for early voting. As I said elsewhere there were only a dozen voters at the over 55 clubhouse, But 3 people had issues with requesting a mail-inn ballot and then not using it. It took me about 15 minutes to do the 4 page paper ballot.

Now that he has won I will be interested to see how he cleans up this mess he has inherited. I guess we all better get used to higher energy prices and high unemployment.
