After the Hurricane: Punditry! Man: You've got to be an IDIOT to live in a low-lying flood area and not evacuate! Man: But this is an OPPORTUNITY. We should bulldoze those areas and bring in developers. Woman: People are saying this response to Katrina is elitist - that it's even RACIST. Man: NONSENSE. I'd say the same thing no matter which city was affected.

If someone wants to rebuild, let them do it with the sort of effort the ex head of Pullman used when he built his home on concrete pillars to bedrock on the Florida coast…“If a storm washes the island away, this house will still be standing.”
Anyone who insists on selling insurance to people on the shoreline should insist that the customer pays the full bill, not trying to get the state to allow them to charge people 50 miles inland for someone else’s risk.
