It’s Obama who is paying his women staffers not as much as his men staffers..Its Obama whi thinks women can’t spend $9/month for birth control and so the gov has to do it for them. Very condescending" It is you who are very condescending. By attempting to spin the Rep’s as pro-women or Obama as anti-women.

No, what was tasteles and insulting to the victims of Hurricane Sandy was Romney crudely disguising a photo-op as a canned-goods drive for the Sandy victims

Aren’t Repubs hilarious? They actually think people will be dumb enough to equate a poltical agenda that will penalize every woman in the country with the pay rate of the White House staff.

Good cartoon. To the conservatives on this blog — do you get your sources on contraceptives the same place you get your information on economics and climate change? You DO know that in an experiment where they gave women their choice of contraceptives for free (which will be part of all health insurance soon, thanks to Obamacare), abortions were reduced to 20% of what they were in the control group? You do know that the GOP platform is extremely anti-woman? You do know that the Lily Ledbetter act was passed in response to a hugely anti-woman decision of the supreme court? Do you follow the news?

Abortion is health care only in relationship to the safety of the mother during the procedure. Orthodox Catholic undermines his argument when he talks about women being butchered by quacks.

Anti-abortion legislators defend making abortion difficult to obtain by saying they are only trying to help the health of the woman. They lie, of course, but this draws a parallel with the statements of OC above.

Now a question for them: when abortion is outlawed, does this mean that no women will attempt to get an abortion? And how will this differ from the time before 1973, when women sought help from someone who knows someone who is going to go to med school, uses a coat-hanger or knitting needle to perform the procedure, and kills the mother in the process?

I am not pro-abortion. I just know that there will always be a demand. We can try to reduce the demand, but we should always demand safety for the woman. This cannot be done if abortion is outlawed.

@ansonia: depending on a judge’s decision, abortion could be outlawed in Mississippi. This is the legislators’ stated goal. There is only one abortion clinic in the state, and a new law would close that one.

It’s not just a hurricane, Romney/Ryan is a perfect storm against women’s rights. They are as good for women as Parathion is for grasshoppers.

@Archimedes, There was no “study”, just a report on staff salaries. excerpt below; And who could have more fun on the job than Desiree Rogers, who gets $113,000 a year as the White House social secretary?

On Jan. 21, 2009, shortly after taking office, Obama froze the salaries of senior White House staffers “as a signal of [the Obama administration’s] shared commitment to restoring the country’s economic vitality and because of the serious economic conditions we are facing.” In September, 2009, Obama reduced the fiscal year 2010 pay increases scheduled for most federal government employees from as much as 18.9 percent to no more than 2.0 percent. And who could have more fun on the job than Desiree Rogers, who gets $113,000 a year as the White House social secretary?

Yay, I love it when liberals are on the defense. Yay!!! You guys are just avoiding the inevitable. Obama isn’t living up to your expectations, and he knows it, so he’s just hyping it all up. But there’s nothing behind the hype! Just get used to it, MITT ROMNEY WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!

@archimedes:I understand your point of view and respect it. I will respectfully disagree on the idea that a baby is being killed. I will agree that a growing bunch of cells is being taken out of a favorable environment. I will not convince you otherwise, and neither will you convince me.

Now, let’s visit some social services files about what happens to babies that are unwanted. In my small town in the past year, 4 sets of parents were sent to jail for child abuse or murder. One baby was hit by a car on a busy four-lane highway, and no one at home knew the baby wasn’t in the house. Orphanages are full; so are foster homes. But these children are not adopted.

On the other hand, people spend thousands of (insurance) dollars so that they can have THEIR OWN baby. Someone else’s just won’t be good enough. I would be more opposed to abortion if the people who wanted babies but were unable to have them would just adopt one that was available.

Posters on this site have stated that anywhere from several million to a billion abortions have been carried out. I have no way of knowing whether that’s true, but let’s assume it is. We already have 7 billion people on the planet; how many more could we have now when those aborted fetuses became able to breed?

And how far do we go? IUDs prevent the fetus from attaching to the womb. Do they cause abortions? Are we willing to get rid of methods of birth control? And if we are, won’t that mean that demand for abortion will go up?

If we stop fighting over people wanting to use birth control, and if we stop idiotically teaching abstinence-only, the demand for abortion will decrease.

Okay, a point again made that will blow right past the morons. Federal salaries, whether Schedule C appointees, or Civil Service are exactly the same for the same job, whether men or women. It’s the law Romney/Ryan hate, actually, as do their “corporate friends”. IN the federal government over the last three decades, more women have been pushed, or pulled, above that “glass ceiling” than in any other employment sector in the U.S., I’ve watched it happen, as well as seen the figures in agencies where I didn’t work.

Given Ryan’s stated positions, and Romney’s flip-flops, I feel quite certain that the last thing a woman in America wants, is this team, with their like-thinking minions and mentors remaining in Congress.

First women are making the same as men in the same job with the same experience and skill. Second I donot think I should have to pay for a women’s slut life style use a condom (this does not include rape or mother’s health). If you want a free abortion let us tie your tubes not like woopie goldberg who has six of them
