California is the eighth largest economy in the WORLD!!

Of course, this makes it also the largest economy in the USA by a large margin. Also, Californians pay $1.00 in federal taxes and receive back only $0.78 in return benefits.

There is even a movement in California (by ultra conservatives of course) to have California leave the USA, as it is as it would seem that er are bankrolling most of the RED conservative states. Perhaps if we would then be able to stop paying for poorer states in the Mid West and the South, then we could straighten out our own economy?

But, I personally think that we can manage without such extreme methods!!

Here’s a good one for you the Philippines gov. has told their people to contact their families in America to vote for Romney, because he will outsource more jobs to the Philippines, where Obama is trying to stop the out sourcing.

Please explain to me why America was number one in the world economy, with businesses growing. The middle class growing at a great rate, when all the supposedly oppressive regulations, and high taxes were in effect. And every time we have more deregulations and tax cuts things go down hill.

Take a look at a little history every time California has a bad time; it’s been with a Republican Governor. That’s why Jerry Brown won so easy, he cleaned up the mess Reagan left there.

LIsa DOES raise a valid point, even if from backassward world view: IT IS IMPORTANT for folks to pay close attention to their state and local races, especially for the House and Senate.

It is the brainwashed LOCAL electors who gave us Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, and other right-wing lunatics bent on destroying the nation, to profit their masters, in the corporate world. It isn’t even that tenth of a percent of the 1% of INDIVIDUALS, so much as the power granted by SCOTUS with Citizens United that has destroyed WAY too much intellect in the “voter”. It is the MACHINE, not the mechanic that has run over the middle class.

As example: Toyota, Honda, BMW, Hundai build their cars in the U.S., who CARES if 5% of Jeeps sold in China are built in China? Boeing is building most sub-assemblies for their airplanes in Asia, shipping jobs overseas, does anyone outside the industry, and the laid off workers in the U.S., notice?

We ARE in a totally global economy, products ARE the result of manufacturing in multiple components in different locations, some jobs in China ARE GOOD for jobs in the U.S.! WE need someone who knows how it works, and most “locally elected” politicians don’t have any more a clue than their constituents. THAT is NOT GOOD! So, pick wisely, if you can.

The rich always found ways to avoid taxes during the 50’s and 60’s and the estate tax was a haven for lawyers to create trusts to divide estates into smaller, less taxable entities. I am an accountant and dealt with it professionally all my life. I agree with bringing back Glass-Steagall. Your protection from corporate America is already happening: business is leaving the country and your choices for products will become more limited and more expensive. It’s called supply and demand…

“Go look up Ronald Reagan and you’ll see that you’ve been fed a pack of lies.”-Start with Rachel Maddow’s book, Drift.-I was in California when uncle ronnie raygun decided mental health facilities were costing too much. He used some isolated incidents of abuse of the inmates/prisoners/patients as a scare tactic to close down the facilities. Where did they go? Out on the streets where law enforcement, courts, jails and prisons can now deal with them. In the long run, did uncle ronnie raygun save Calfornia money. A most resounding NO, he did not. It costs more to deal with the problems through law enforcement etc. People are not receiving the help they need and it is costing the rest of us more money.

Ms. Benson cartoon is aimed at the liberal side of state government and the political influence of a far left agenda. The ads also suggest the far left is filled with legislators influenced by “special interest money”. This is a fair assessment. The fact that legislators are immune from many of the regulations with which citizens deal makes such deals easier, and permits a level of insider trading to and from legislators that makes many of our elected officials too invested to act on behalf of the electorate. Ms. Benson leaves out what the liberal editorial cartoon often include. The same effect of influence on conservative legislators. No matter who wins on Tuesday, if the citizens are going to actually win by 2016, it will be because the citizens of the United States of America have stood up to cannibalistic government more interested in power and profit than people. When January comes, please write to your Senators, Congressmen, President, as well as your state and local officials. In respectful and succinct language, tell them where you stand on at least nine issues. You are a voice. When enough of off cry out, they actually listen.Respectfully,C.
