The Patriot Acts make “1984” look like a fairy tale. As Samuel Boswell said: “Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels.” Now as a US citizen and veteran, don’t get me wrong: I love my country but I’m pretty damn unhappy with its government and the complaisancy of far too many of its citizens.
