Hmmm…I just read the Constitution, and there isn’t anything there on muppets and televised mindrot for rugrats. However, there WAS something there about “defense.”
Besides, does anyone seriously believe that Sesame Street is going to die if it isn’t subsidized by the government? It is a HUGE money-making franchise, and it will get picked up by a profitable network should PBS go away.
Congress gave PBS about $450 million this year. If that’s Mitt Romney’s big answer on how to fix a trillion dollar deficit, I don’t think he deserves to be taken seriously.In the meantime, Romney promises to increase our military spending by trillions, despite the fact that we are outspending China by 7 to 1, and Russia by about 14 to 1.A wise President would be looking to our allies in Asia to help pay the costs of containing China.
Falwell’s “Liberty University” received far (many times more) from the Office of Faith Based Initiatives, than public broadcasting. By far the most support comes from private contributors and subscribers for Public Broadcasting. Mitt hates it because it’s actually unbiased.
Easy to fix. Just make it a law that any money you give to people running for office has to be used to advertise on PBS. Kill two birds with one stone I would nothave to watch every other commercial being a politcal slot. And the other question is seeing that they are commercial is not there a truth in advertising law. Bot that would get rid of the politcal ads.
Bruce: yes, I did hear what Mitt said about “downsizing” as in removing ALL regulations controlling corporate thievery. I also listened to his “plan” to turn all programs over to the states, who are ALREADY IN BANKRUPTCY because they’ve been failing to collect enough in taxes to run EXISTING programs turned over to the states by previous Republican Congressional and Executive actions.
If folks think things are bad now, just give Mittens (actually Adelson, Koch brothers etc) a matching idiot Congress, and hang on to your hat, because they’ll steal it.

Billionaires like Big Bird do not need to be on the nation’s payroll. It is really Obama who wants to protect those 1% of the most wealthy.
