Obama allowed Romney to get away with lies on pre-existing conditions, welfare, tax cuts (really, Romney? a 20% tax cut is not a tax cut?), and Medicaid. Romney’s campaign had to come on afterwards and re-assert all of the policies he denied in the debate. It was a cynical attempt to lie when people are paying attention, take it all back afterwards when fewer people are paying attention. I’m disappointed in Obama for not calling him on such blatant lies, but it hardly makes me like Romney more.

The Curtain was pulled back, and the naked Emporer stood there…no TelePrompter…no hope…no change.

Way to Go, Varvel…!!!I watched all 90 minutes of Debate # l, and Lehrer lost control on the first or second “2 minute answer” of Obama, who began a night-long filibuster…..and Lehrer being a PBS Liberal, did not “interupt” the President until much later, a feeble effort that roused Obama’s anger….and Lehrer had to omit an entire segment on Qs on “government”……-Both candidates agree ahead of the debates on the rules…but no one can make Obama obey rules….proven since Jan.2009.-Orthodox Catholic, well said. Obama and all the Democratic Liberals got a shock, they saw the REAL Romney, not the invented charicature they ran millions of dollars of ads against.-

It was amazing that the real MItt Romney from all his campaign positions to date, didn’t come to the debate last night. The etch-a-sketch was in the rock tumbler last night.

ARodney said, about 7 hours agoObama allowed Romney to get away with lies on pre-existing conditions, welfare, tax cuts (really, Romney? a 20% tax cut is not a tax cut?)….(end quote) -Obama’s “budget” is “The Lie”….double-counting “savings” and expecting the same dollars to pay for both Medicare and Obamacare with 30 million more patients….-Rodney….Romney continually explains that lowering the TAX RATE 20% across the board for all income levels’ taxes, is not equal to giving “the rich” a 20% less ADJ income tax OWED when the changes Romney will seek will have ended all the old deductions and exemptions and credits the “rich” are used to using to get a lower taxable amount of income.-why are you Liberals so stupid?

I will admit Obama did poorly, by actually answering the questions instead of rebutting all of Mitt’s outright lies, but last night was a zoo, not a “debate”. Maybe he will wake up before the next two, and fry Mitt, as he deserves.

You guys sit there and go on about Romney saying let them go bankrupt. It is baffling that you guys try to spin this. It does not mean they will close and go under, it is a restructuring. You get rid of some of your outstanding dept based on a court hearing and start over but are then responsible. That is why Cities have filed and did not dissapear from the landscape.

I was not speaking of companies such as Solyndra but more as Macy’s and the like which did in fact go into a restructuring program. I pulled this from a bankruptcy site and you can also verify it yourself.

Federal bankruptcy laws govern how companies go out of business or recover from crippling debt. A bankrupt company, the “debtor,” might use Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code to “reorganize” its business and try to become profitable again. Management continues to run the day-to-day business operations but all significant business decisions must be approved by a bankruptcy court.

Companies in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, in most instances, the company’s plan of reorganization will cancel the existing equity shares. This happens in bankruptcy cases because secured and unsecured creditors are paid from the company’s assets before common stockholders. And in situations where shareholders do participate in the plan, their shares are usually subject to substantial dilution.

You spoke of Am-Pad, so I took a look, though I new the parts that the media wanted us to know but thought this fit my argument.

1998: With Ampad struggling, Bain agrees to cut the annual fee $1.5 million a year. It also agrees to start forgoing payment until the company turns around.

    · 1999: Revenues continue to slide. Ampad closes a plant near Buffalo, with up to 185 losing jobs.

    · 2000: Creditors force Ampad into Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize.

    · 2001: Judge puts Ampad into Chapter 7 to liquidate assets and pay creditors. Senior secured lenders get less than 50 cents on the dollar.

I understand in many circumstances that there is very little monies going to the providers and suppliers of said companies, but as I believed in my statement above you do not always go directly into Chapter 7 Bankruptcy if you are trying to rebuild a company. That would mean that these companies that Bain Capital bought up and or went in to reorganizing by your words were not supposed to survive but only go under. If you do not understand that restructuring means that you must lower cost wherever possible which would include trying to lower wages along with costs up front and later increase as you are able once you have become stable. this is why I had stated what I had. I am in California where there is much restructuring and Bankruptcy of cities in my area to which makes me concerned of our current direction of the economical uncertainty.
