I saw that joke from 100 years ago in a British book called The Best Cartoons from Punch. There is a museum mural called “The Story of Mankind” first showing an ape swinging from vines, then a hominid crafting tools from stones, then eating a piece of meat, then showing a long-haired man with a bow & arrow.
