Woot! Houston just elected an openly gay mayor. From Time:
“In both her public and personal life, Parker has maintained high ethical standards and decorum in her years as an elected official. No scandals have occurred on her watch. As mayor she will present the city’s best face to the world, one of tolerance, diversity and compassion for all our citizens.”
— An endorsement from the Houston Chronicle (Nov. 22, 2009)
“[Parker’s sexuality] was a factor, but not enough of a factor to stop her. We are talking about a candidate who has been in public life for 12 years. Everyone knows her. You had an entire race where no one ever questioned whether she was good at her job.”
— Jay Aiyer, a chief of staff to former Mayor Lee Brown (New York Times, Dec. 13, 2009)
“In Houston, it is now harder for a lawyer to be elected mayor than a lesbian.”
— Rick Casey, political columnist (Houston Chronicle, Dec. 13, 2009)

Looks like the “Gay Agenda” is the people’s agenda. But Brownback still won’t condemn Uganda for instituting the death penalty for being gay. This action came after “The Family,” including Brownback, imhof, Grassly, Ensley, et al raised the issue of “The International Gay Agenda” as they organized the annual prayer breakfast in Uganda.
The Family will have the Ugandan President [lso a member of the Family as a guest ot the U.S. Annual Prayer Breakfas next February. President Obama is the guest speaker.
Politics for adults: elect someone who might get the job done, and don’t care about what and with whom they do in the bedroom, as long as it’s a)consensual and b) doesn’t interfere with their work.
Interesting things will no be afoot as the HPOU and other groups who opposed her election [vehemently and in a rather nasty fashion] now realize that they HAVE to deal with Good Lady Parker as mayor - get out that spoon piggies, your gonna have the crow special for a bit…

I always knew they were up to NO GOOD! Fiscal responsibility is so bad that no one running our government has done it for 8 years!
