Lord it’s tough, having to write a short card to a person who only shopped, wrapped, boxed, then mailed a present to you. I’ll go watch “The Biggest Loser.”

keltii I still have my son send thank you notes. Good manners never go out of style.

SprSynJn There are still some of us that do not feel ourselves so entitled that we forget to be thankful.

My mom made us write thank you notes, and that wasn’t all that long ago. I used to hate it. The people getting the notes know the kid doesn’t care, and that their parents forced them to. So it’s pointless. However, when I got married I sent out thank you notes anyway cause it’s polite. And I get the feeling that when I have kids I’ll be making them write thank you notes too.

But I think if you are not sincerely thankful, a thank you card doesn’t help.

I remember a few years ago my aunt made all her nieces and nephews (a least 10 of us) blankets for Christmas. My mom asked me to send her a thank you card for all the work she put into it which I promptly did. I was told that she cried because I was the only one that did send one.

I have a daughter-in-law in Alaska who sent personalized dish towels and pot holders to a bunch of kin folk, me included… I was told only her mother and I sent Thank You notes. The towels were in thanks to us for hosting her and family when they visited this summer.

bread upon the water comes back in the best ways….

keltii These are newly written comics, and yes we send thank yous to all, for the gifts we receive. A good habit that every one should do.

    ninmas,

Why would you CALL them? I mean thats just LAZY!!! If you want them to think you are SINCERELY thankful, you’d probably put a bit of work into it instead of just pushing a bunch of buttons then talking.

    nivellios,

it seems a bit more relaxed, and people don’t always want a generic thanks, note. at least they know that it’s appreciated.
