Looks like the boys only own 2 pair of underpants, the ones they are wearing and what they have on and at the laundry. In the 1930s most people only took a bath once a week. It was WW2 and being in the service that got us into taking a shower every day. So I guess the changing of underwear came once a week.

The rubies are mounted on the inside to discretely scratch various body parts as needed.

We’re all comic fans-a lot of us loved to draw and copy the characters in the Sunday funnies, I started in 1932 with Dick Tracy, then Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Mandrake, and I loved Red Barry by former sports illustrator Will Gould , The captain and the Kids, and yes The Little King.

Back in the 30s, before anyone had indoor plumbing in our area, one man built an outdoor shower. Someone commented that it was great, but what are you going to do in winter?“Ah, whoever heard of taking a bath in the winter?”

Sorry wong on date—I saw him in 1950 when I worked for MGM—we could not rely on him to show up for publicity appearances due to his alcoholism and drug addiction.
