Ten times more sick because he actually takes the meds for his imagined illnesses.

I get patients coming to my office that are taking up 10 -15 different drugs.I often ask them, “What do you think would happen to me if I took all these drugs?” They usually answer, “You would get sick.” I pause and try to let that sink in.

    Morning, Village!

    .

I found my great grandmother’s immigration record! Woo Hoo! She and her sister immigrated from Germany to New York in 1883. She was 27 and her sister was 29. She came to Texas and her sister stayed in New York. I even found her sister’s grave on FindAGrave.com. And finding this information allowed me to fill out her whole family, all her brothers and sisters!

Good morning, Vagabonds. The other day I took the Lexington subway to the 125th St. station, fully confident that the 2 elevators there would bring me, my heavy shoulder bag (I was donating books to a thrift shop) and my rollator up to the street level. To my chagrin, I found that both elevators were under reconstruction. I should have consulted the subway website, but who knew?

<A young lady saw me struggling up the subway stairs and offered to take my rolaltor up for me. To my surprise, she not only took the bulky rollator up the 2nd set of stairs to the mezzanine, but even to the street. I thanked her and asked her for her name – Isabel – and emailed a letter to the Daily news about how wonderful some New Yorkers can be.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Arye, it is always encouraging when you run into a real “Good Samaritan”, no matter where you live. Isabel sounds like a gem.

We started installing our “Simplisafe” alarm system yesterday. The advertising & the pamphlet both say it should take about 30 minutes to install and set up. It probably would if it weren’t two people doing it and “discussing” every step. We’re still not done. When this is finished, we will be paying $35 LESS per month for monitoring.

Today is out monthly “Ladies to Ladies” meeting at church. I am (of course) taking deviled eggs. They are pretty much expected.

    High today is 85.

I thought you might want this:

    6 hard-boiled eggs, halved

    2 tbsp mayo

1 1/2 tbsp sweet pickle relish

    1 tsp yellow mustard

    1/8 tsp salt

    dash of pepper

    paprika

    .

Remove the yolks from the whites of the eggs. Crush the yolks and mix with the other ingredients except paprika. Spoon the mixture into the egg whites, sprinkle with paprika for garnish.

I usually slice up a sweet pickle and add a slice to the top of each egg. It looks nice and tastes good, too.

    Yield: 1 dozen

    Good morning, Vagabonds,

First off, how happy I am for David for finding those immigration records of his family! Magnificent!

And, then to Arye for finding a wonderful young lady to have helped him up the stairs!!! What a wonderful human being!

And, then I’m also celebrating getting my computer back again. They said it was fixed, but, half of the time the speakers still “crackle”. Maybe I’ll try Arthur’s suggestion and get external speakers. Sure hate to spend any money on this “bargain” computer.

    Good day to all Vagabonds.

Nice day with temp in low 70’s. May have some showers tomorrow but i wouldn’t bet on it.Rita, I hope my suggestion about the speakers works for you. I know I didn’t pay a lot for them.I don’t know if Mon. is a holiday for the rest of you ( Columbus Day ) as it is here. The trouble with being retired is that you don’t get holidays off.

Hi, Gang,I’ll be checking out a few places for the speakers, Arthur. Thanks for the great tip.

.Now, Jan, I’ve been adding some chopped up bacon pieces and cheddar cheese to my deviled eggs, too. They go very fast. Sometimes I’ll add some jalapenos or pepperoncini. I don’t know if you’ve had a hard time peeling your eggs, but sometimes they look so bad after peeling. I ran across an article that I’ve tried, and it works EVERY time:Using a steamer basket in your pot, fill with water to just below the holes. Boil the water. After it is boiled, add your eggs, (right out of the refrigerator) cover the pot and STEAM for 13 minutes. After that time, prepare an ice cube and water bath, and soak those eggs for an additional 13 minutes. Peel the eggs……they are so easy to peel……it takes longer to crack the shells than to peel them!!! Also, the yolks are beautiful golden yellow.

    It’s Sunday morning again Vagabonds.

The rain hasn’t started yet but the say that we should get around 0.5 inches later in the day. Then dry for the rest of the week.

Rita: If you buy speakers and they don’t do the job, just return them. Mine are small like the first cell phones, you can hold them in your hands. I think I paid about $15 for them. They work for me, I didn’t need the top of the line ones.

    Howdy Vagabonds

    .

Possible rain still today, Monday to Wednesday sunny with cloud moving by the end of the period.

    .

Today is the normal Sunday, starting with Church and an inspiring sermon by our sky pilot. Pork chops for dinner then an afternoon of football. (I will most likely catch a few zzzzzzzz)

    .

    Blessed day to all.

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

Checked in with our NC family last night……they’ve got a ton of rain and wind. Sent pictures of fallen trees and flooded streets. So far their fair city will do well, just lots of water.

    Good afternoon, Vagabonds.

I’m late today because I arose this morning just in time to get ready for church. Felt good to sleep in a bit. Our pastor is in Hawaii at the moment so our brand new associate pastor gave the message. He did a very good job, talking about doubt, using Gideon as an example. It’s his first sermon ever.

Rita, I appreciate the tip about the eggs. I have been very lazy about boiling eggs because I can get them pre-boiled and peeled at Costco. Saves a TON of work and if I forget until less than an hour before I have to leave with them, they are handy to cut and fix.

We were going to the “Age of Chivalry” renaissance festival this afternoon, but both of us had excuses not to go. So I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

I gave up my adult coloring book. I don’t think the feeling you are supposed to have upon completion of a page is relief. I gave the book and pencils to a friend who loves to do it.

I heard that they expanded the character limit on comments from 500 to 2000. Thank goodness!
