Ref #1: The law is NO jewelry, not tape over the earrings to get the game started. I'm going to use your jewelry, some glue and this soccer ball to show you how dangerous earrings can be in a soccer match. Take these band-aids. Ref #2: Am I supposed to tape my ears, or what? Ref #1: They're for after you've headed this ball a few times. Ref #2: I get the point...er...points.
Let’s see, a girl on my daughter’s team had to have reconstructive plastic surgery because a referee didn’t make her take out an ear stud that subsequently caught on another player’s equipment. It pulled a large chunk of her upper ear off. Then there was the girl in a high school game that I made remove her jewelry before the game and then she hid it in her sock and put it back on when she was on the field. A driven ball that she didn’t head properly hit her in the nose and drove the post for the nose stud through her septum. Shall I go on?
