Georgie: We made it-6 miles! Coach Tippit: Wheez! Yeah-wheez-we made it. Georgie: I've never wheez-gone that far before. Coach Tippit: What?-wheezz-I thought that was your regular run? Georgie: No-wheez-I only did it because I thought that was your regular run. I wasn't about to let you outrun me. Coach Tippit: This is going to be a cute story to tell the E.M.S. when they drive us to the hospital.
As the saying goes, when you’re in a hole, stop digging. Yet when people do something stupid, they often just keep getting in deeper, keeping up the ruse to avoid making a fool of themselves, thus eventually making an even bigger fool of themselves when it inevitably blows up in their faces than if they had just come clean right away and gotten it over with. Let’s just hope this resolves itself sooner rather than later, instead of turning into one of those protracted tales of the agony and the idiocy.
