Manny: What's wrong? What's that? Eve: Seth's results from his early intervention evaluation. Look. Manny: Gross motor-18 months. Fine motor-12 months. Adaptive, self care - 6-9 months. Receptive language - 9 months. Expressive language - 8 months. Cognitive - 7 months! But...his other results were normal! Eve: Seth is normal, for an infant! Too bad he's now 2! ...This is bad, Manny. I'm glad he sees the neurologist next week. I need to know what's going on- Manny: This means nothing! He'll catch up! He's fine!! Eve: You're right! It's perfectly normal to never speak!! Manny: See how easy denial is?
