The truth is that no matter where you go, someone is watching and ready at a moment’s notice to immortalize you on a smart phone (and generally more than just one someone). There are countless superegos to make you (in)famous. Act like a caring human being. Whether you are police, preachers or politicians, you’ll be happier ultimately and lives may be saved.
Go back and read the initial “official” report of the Floyd murder released by the Minneapolis Police department to see exactly WHY bystander videos are now so necessary to the administration of justice here in America!
What is scary is the thought that soon we might have to institute a “Witness Protection Program” to protect bystanders with cell phone cameras from being targeted for revenge from THE POLICE!!
We have a video of a person attacking another person with a knife, refusing to stop, and the cop shooting the attacker. However, the video is ignored because it doesn’t support the desired message.
No doubt people of color are targeted more than their white counterparts… but in fairness.. they are.. more likely to be unemployed.. from broken families.. bored. In general.. a group more likely to be doing stuff bordering trouble. Not right, or fair but that brush paints even those living the straight and narrow
Deadly force is regrettably necessary at times. No one disputes that. But it should be the Last Resort not the first Go To response. “I felt threatened” is not the same as “I was in imminent danger.”
How about obey the law, show respect, care for those in need and the Golden Rule all which should be upheld by everyone. ( My rose colored glasses again.)
I’m hoping with the DOJ investigation worthwhile reform will be instituted in MN. I wouldn’t argue if the DOJ investigated Bob Kroll, trump-lover hostile creepy retired Minneapolis Police Union who has finally retired.
The original accepted police report is why Minneapolis Police are being federally investigated, even with the Police Chief and the Supervisor testifying that DC broke with police training in the murder of George Floyd.
Thankfully, there is video to back up the wrong doing of police officers. Conversely, there are good police officers that have welcomed video that proved they did their job professionally.
Now remember son…when you’re out there, be wary of other blacks. In Chicago alone there were over 800 homicides in the past year. 585 of them were black mostly killed by other blacks. So far this year 177 homicides although that number is probably outdated and incorrect as it was from crimes stats from Wednesday. Nobody on the left cares about little 7 year old Jaslyn Adams shot dead in dad’s car last Sunday by two black gangsters because it doesn’t fit their narrative. But, they go ballistic when a cop shoots a black teenager to prevent her from killing another black girl with a knife. Spare us the false homilies and crocodile tears.

If you cannot do it with the cameras running then you REALLY ought to consider not doing it.

“Can I get a witness” used to mean something different in black churches in America.

A third panel is needed to show a Politian saying to his son: Remember, son, to “lie your butt off” when asked any questions.

Bad guys hate that there are so many cameras out there today, to potentially hold them accountable for their actions…

I had both of those talks with my son. When he was young, and when he became a cop.

Sad to say you’re spot on Clay; heartbreakingly so.
