FaceBrick makes $Billions by selling eyeballs. And information about how people react to various things. They have discovered that when allow their product… I mean users to interact with a large emotional component, they stay online longer, see more pages with more ads, reveal more about what they are willing/wishing to purchase, etc. And the very easiest emotion to provide is antipathy (“hate lite”) which they can do simply by giving a wide audience to folks who promote hate. If their product.. I mean users choose to slide over into actual hate, or even act on such emotion, that’s not FB’s doing (they will argue). Similar considerations apply to conspiracy theorists, vaccine lies, etc.
So it’s no wonder that they continue to do what makes them scads of money while lying about doing something to ameliorate it.
