It would be better to surrender the gun to the local police.

This is a mistake on three levels:

1: For at least a little while, that pistol is still usable by anyone who finds it.

2: AND if someone does find it, the link to that person is invisible to law officers after any illegal use of it.

3: Can’t be good for the ecology, though I admit it’s probably not all that bad.

I always love Bennett’s art. But in this case, the message is misguided. The reality is, often when someone throws a gun into the water, it’s because they’ve already used it on someone else, and figure that this is a good way to destroy evidence linking the gun to them…

The Ammosexuals would be clutching their pearls to see that happen…

The thought of people voluntarily getting rid of arms and once again trusting and respecting their neighbors — instead of fearing them — is very appealing.

Having a nation with a common set of goals is just a dream now that political propaganda/disinformation is being used to generate fear/anger.

Aside from the already-stated wisdom that it is much better to turn your gun into the police rather than throw it into a lake, I appreciate the intent of the cartoon.

However, I have lost all patience with gun owners in general. Most gun deaths are caused by handguns and usually by someone the victim knows (either family, gang, or self-inflicted), and the trope about protecting oneself is as untrue as ever. If I had my way (not gonna happen in this country, but a guy can dream), we would adopt a near total ban on private firearms. Nobody needs them in their home. There are more effective, cheaper, and safer ways to protect a home. Nobody needs them for hunting (99% of hunters do it for sport, not out of necessity). I’m done with them.

If guns are so great, why not give one to each football player, for use during games only.

Isn’t that what’s known as a “pop fly” in baseball? It’s obviously going to fall straight down and hit him on the head. 2 lbs of metal with sharpish edges is going to hurt quite a bit. Is that a metaphor?

Hand guns are made for killin’,

Condoning littering? With lead bullets polluting the water supply? If a conservative had created that cartoon, that’s what the liberals would be screaming about.

A baby was just shot in Houston by it’s 3-year old brother. This happens all the time ~ kids getting hold of the guns. I hope those parents feel real safe that they had a gun in the house. And if it is there, kids will find it even if it is locked in a safe.

If the criminals and drug dealers and gang members and thugs all turn in all their weapons, then I might think about it. Until then, I will keep peace of mind with mine at my side. Have a nice day………

Four “Boogaloo Bois” Indicted For Obstructing Investigation Of Federal Officer’s Murder Last Summer

A quartet of “Boogaloo Bois” associated with a right-wing militia group called “1st California Grizzly Scouts” were indicted by the Department of Justice on Friday for conspiring to destroy evidence in the murder/attempted murder investigation of two Federal Protective Service Officers in Oakland, California last Summer…

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in San Francisco, alleged that the four conspired to destroy communications and other records related to the murder and attempted murder of two federal security officers in Oakland, the department said in a statement.

The accused men are Jessie Rush, 29, of Turlock, California, Robert Blancas, 33, a transient in the San Francisco Bay area, Simon Ybarra, 23, of Los Gatos, California, and Kenny Miksch, 21, of San Lorenzo, California.

All are members of the militia groups 1st Detachment and 1st California Grizzly Scouts, the DOJ said.

All remained in federal custody on Friday pending further court proceedings, the DOJ said.

Prosecutors also claim Mr James spoke to several individuals about bringing weapons to the insurrection and said he tried to organise a “qrf” – a quick reaction force – to muster at the Capitol.

Both Mr Minuta and Mr James were members of GOP hatchetman Roger Stone’s security detail before they were arrested for their alleged role in the insurrection.

Mr James’s detention hearing was held on Friday.

Major boat accidence will cause millions of “Assault Weapons” to be lost in deep water across America before any ban or registration happens. It’s a shame gun owners have such leaky boats.

Having strong opinions on subject that you know nothing about is annoying as heck. I feel your pain.

I will say I support all of the amendments. But all of them have inherent limits for the good of all. Take freedom of speech. You can speak, But I do not have to listen. You can voice a view, and the Government cannot arrest you unless you threaten someone. You can print a news report if it is false and/or libel with malice. You can be legally held accountable. Say bomb in a transit center or fire in a crowded movie theater you can be arrested if anyone is hurt or killed from the panic you caused well you violated that person right life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I do indeed have a 22 rifle for target practice and some protection. The bolt is out and away from the rifle as ammo in another place. I do believe in reasonable rights to bear arms. I would submit to a basic background check with no issue. Something I was taught in the Army My M-16 was a tool weapon for no other purpose but to kill another human being. At the same time, it was fun to shoot. Today I really rather not have one at hand. Maybe because I was a signal corp technician, I would have shot the enemy in defense of my country if I had to. But I know one thing it would haunt me. I think we are not addressing mental health issues. Most People don’t just flip one day and shoot up someplace. Something is going on, and there are outside signs. We ignore them. We don’t intervene. We need to do better.

Trying to ditch the evidence…

Ah, if only it were that easy. And replace the pistol with an AR-15.

You mean like the people who have already declared that if any sort of gun ban is enacted, they’ll tell police they lost the prohibited weapons in a tragic boating accident?

About 1% of all deaths by gunshot are from accidents. 99% are from humans pulling the trigger. Get rid of the guns and those humans will find other ways to kill.

Studies show that around 70% of those people who kill indiscriminately have been abused as children. School, church, home – the environment that breeds hate is everywhere.

Destroying the weapon will not cure the problem, teaching equality is a first step, enacting laws to enforce the concept that all people deserve respect is another.

I hope that thing wasn’t loaded. Some kid diving could find it and get hurt!!!
