“Whatever you do, stay in your lane”?
I wait till some are gone before I even think about it. I already have several I’d like to vote for.
2020, the year of “Anyone but”.
A contentious primary season with a lot of potential candidates isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, it needs to be a fair and open race that focuses on policy and ideas. A candidate that has to make personal attacks instead of making their case on policy are flagging themselves as suspect.
Let us wait and see whether this time the election will be fair.
So, with so many running in winner take all primaries, the one who gets the 8% lunatic fringe vote will be a shoo-in. Hmm, that sounds so very familiar somehow.
Do we still have to wait till the election’s over to start the serious bashing?
New law…..candidates may campaign for only six months, spending limits of 100 million each, election day is a two day affair…..no electoral college. Done.
The large number of candidates at this point is a good thing. It’ll shake down to a few favorites, but at the moment, I like what I’m seeing in most of them. None is perfect, but even the worst of them is a vast improvement over what we now have.
It’s way too soon to be painting the lines. We’re really just having a large number of exploratory committees popping up. With Dump in the WH, practically everyone is a viable candidate.
How convenient that you forgot the twelve dwarfs that ran on the Republican side in 2016.
When I was in high school, only two first semester senior students ran for student council. Seeing a terrific opportunity to pad their applications for college, the next semester had around twenty. The winner won by three votes.
What’s the big deal this time? The Republicans had 17 on that first debate stage in ’16.
Warren is the one the Republicans are scared of. And, she has a solid record of supporting the middle class. I like O’Rourke, too. An abundance of riches, as long as they don’t kill each other off in the primaries. The first time I hear a Democrat dis another Democrat in the primaries, they get marked off my list. It’s a long list, and I can afford to stick with the ones who are smart enough to tell you how good they are, not how bad the other Democrats are.
American voters seem to like movie/television celebrities. It is too late for any the Democratic candidates to appear weekly on our screens in an alt-reality series?
Yet one more clusterf- for the Democrats.
We’re still almost a year away from the first primaries. How about cooling it and get a bit of general policy-making done first, now that we have the House and can be heard?
I’ll vote for any candidate who can dislodge tRump from the Oval Office so we can put him in a square cell.
Pick a party, post comic, repeat every four years.
@Jason Allen, two whole years ago! And he’s changed since then. It just seems odd that your decrying exactly what he did. What Dem. is insulting others at this point?
I saw Klobucher announce yesterday. Powerful stuff.
