Very different cartoon than the excellent cartoon by Clay Jones, but a similar point, so I will repeat the comment I made on Jim Morin’s cartoon…
Democrats got SIX MILLION votes more than the Republicans for the House.
Democrats got almost TEN MILLION votes more than the Republicans for the Senate.
The people did not split the vote. They voted overwhelmingly, in a massive BLUE WAVE, for Democrats.
But the structural obstacles in the Senate this year, with the Democrats defending 29 out of 25 seats could not be overcome simply by getting far more votes.
The good news is that, in 2020, a high-turnout presidential year, it will be the REPUBLIKKKONs who are defending most seats (the ones they won in their landslide of 2014), and it will be in a year when all the crimes and corruption of their party have just been made public in the investigations and hearings that will no longer be obstructed by Trump cronies.
