My school accelerated me into grade two because I could already read. First week we were given drills with Roman numerals. I burst into tears because I’d never seen them before!
I ain’t sharing no muffins,
I wouldn’t give Jane a fraction of my muffins.

A: Sore knuckles and my 8 muffins back.
Good Morning Grog, Dry, Cleo, Lonewolf, StelBel, puppybreath, noicantspell & all CDers especially MOTHERS everywhere.
This looks like my Muffin…
Well, this is crazy. I changed the double quotes to single, and it worked from nighthawks URL up above. Yet, I use double quotes all the time and never ran into a problem. So, I don’t feel like I’ve solved the mystery. I’m not deleting anything else in the hopes that nighthawks and I can be set straight on what’s going on.
Good morning kids. A happy mothers day to all the mommas of Citizen Dog...And congratulations to the proud momma of the graduate DRY.
Aha! If you look very, very closely at nighthawks’ link you can just see that there’s something funny about the quotes. Somehow he’s used smart quotes in his formatting, and they’re not working!
Cutting and pasting — way safer!!
found MY mistake!hrefnot herf
I just looked at the quotation marks in my last comment, and they look like “smart quotes” in the already posted comment, yet as I typed them, they looked like the normal “dumb quotes”, and I used a magnifying glass to compare.
J P Steve, you are right about the Smart Quotes. If you compose a comment containing a link or image in MS Word, Word will automatically replace straight quotes (both single and double) with “smart” ones. Now if you compose the comment directly in the comment box you see straight quotes while you’re typing, but when you “Submit” GoComics processor converts straight quotes to smart ones in the text and double straight quotes to single straight quote when found inside the < > of link or image reference. (Kind of what you see is not what you get.) But it doesn’t do anything to smart quotes it encounters. And that’s what causes the problem. If you are writing a long or complex comment or like save your comments, I would suggest using Notepad (All Programs|Accessories|NotePad) as it doesn’t try to format the link for you.You can also configure Word to use only straight quotes. I have instructions for this if anyone is interested.
thanks you guys for going to all the trouble, and thanks for welcoming me so warmly into your CD family.now, what the heck are smart quotes? I only have one set of quotes on my keyboard, and they may be smarter than me but try as I might, I can’t find the dumb quotes, which of course would be more appropriate for me.
I had a feeling you might not know how to get rid of them. That’s why I asked my last question to x_Tech. You are on a Mac, right?
Well, x_Tech might not get back to us right away, but if not tonight, then usually he’s here early morning, so check back later or morning. This has been a challenge, but hang in there. I’m sure this is the last hurdle!!!
In the meantime, do you know how to put a picture in the comments? LOL
now, here is my website:art of bryan
Back in the stone age, they would always caution you “paste the command into a pure ASCII text editor like Notepad.” Guess they figure everybody today is too savvy to need that reminder :O(
If you wanted to use smart quotes you’d have to summon them up with even more arcane magic spells than HTML uses! If your word processor wants to use them you may need to take a baseball bat to it!
now, for another test.
stel ol’ bel’s rambler song
now , stel ol’ bel, I’m feelin’ pretty good. so how DO you put pictures in comments?
“now , stel ol’ bel, I’m feelin’ pretty good. so how DO you put pictures in comments?”…………………………………………………………………………Are you ready to tackle that? Now?
OK…I just broke this down step by step. So, do ONE step at a time. Do not look at the whole thing and panic.YOU CAN DO IT!!!
1. Minimize the page that you’re on now.
2. Start a new page.
3. On your new page, go to photobucket.com.
4. In the search box, enter whatever kind of graphic image you’re looking for. For instance, you could enter “yawning emoticon”. That page with different emoticons yawning, will come up.
5. Move your cursor on the one you want. Don’t click yet. A small chart with 4 choices will appear. Left click on the fourth one down (HTML code).
6. Now, your graphic is “copied”.
7. Get out of the photobucket page and get back onto the comments section of the comics.
8. Make sure your blinking cursor is where you want it in the comment.
9. RIGHT click, and when the options come up, LEFT click on PASTE. (So, the bottom line is all you’re doing is copying and pasting!)
10. Do not be alarmed! A bunch of code will be pasted there. You have to click on SUBMIT to submit your comment and graphic before they both appear in the comments section.
11. If it’s not to your liking, you can always delete the whole thing. Sometimes, it’s really huge. There is a way to make it smaller, but that’s a lesson for another day…..
step 5. should be : Left click on the THIRD one down (HTML code)
Well…..we’re cookin’ on all fours now, I see!!
And, I see you already knew how to do that!
nighthawks You are THAT talented and can’t figure out how to do all this tech stuff? Geez man! JUST KIDDING! Lovely, sir, lovely! That is some great work! You have a wonderful TALENT! You are blessed!
Well, time for me to sign off so that I can go dream about smart quotes and ramblers…Good night everyone! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening!
To adjust the size change the width, anything up to 350.To seperate the image and text add a paragraph break <p> before/after the image code.
